SACRIFICES AND OFFERINGS

Leviticus 2,3, Hebrew 10:10-20, 1 John 2:12.
In the Levitical sacrifice instituted by God to the children of Israel.

The Priest sacrifice kids of goat as sin offering.
A ram for burnt offering.
One of the goat to be killed while the other is to be sent away as a scapegoat (sinbearer).  The ram will be burnt offering.

Congregational offering:
The day of atonement was a national day of fasting, dedication, confession of sin and an eternal covenant.

The second part is called the Holiest of holies. The priest could represent the people and present the law.
Personal burnt offering, God's people, believers; via Jesus Christ, God's people:

(a). The offeror
-person offering the sacrifice.
-things to offer, tabernacle, tent.
-offering & sacrifices as a means of atonement.
-the need to humble oneself and see the need for offering and the need for the offering and also recognise the only way to establish unbroken relationship with God.
-the offering should be willingly and repentance is non negotiable, it's also personal convictions. There must be compliance.
-The laying of hand on the head of the animal as identifying with the animal as that's a substitute.
-the offeror brought what they can afford; bull for the rich, sheep or goat for middle class while pigeon for the poor.
-these process put in place for His people to prepare them for the only acceptable and Holy sacrifice made at His fullness at the death of Jesus Christ.

The offerings:
Burnt of the herd, male without blemish, freewill and at the door of the tabernacle of meeting.
-One of the consequences of the fall of man is that the ground was curse that leads to the corruption of everything coming out of it. So demand for the ultimate sacrifice. The quality and the place of offering is essential as God is not a beggar and He has the gifts and the givers.

The blood is most valuable to God and must be treated thus in expectation of the blood of His only Begotten Son.

God appreciate what is good. The sacrifice of Jesus Christ present the best aroma to God.
The entire offering are burnt on the altar except the blood that is treated as prescribed by God to the priest.

Meal offering or Grain offering:
This signify gift of thanks and devotion to God. This offering is a reminder that God provides the food for them.
-fine flour, with oil and frankincense on it.
Addition of yeast forbidden. Also honey was forbidden as pagan also uses it for their sacrifices.

Christ perfection prefigured. The fine plour represent Jesus ultimate sacrifice as the perfect sinless or spotless man, even the Bread of Life.
The incense represent the sweetness and fragrance of His person and life as the Great High Peiest. Jesus is the salt that purify, preserves and enrich us and healed our broken Spirit.
