"Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world."

Introduction
The world we live in is filled with temptations, moral compromise, and pressure to conform. Every day, believers are challenged to choose between the values of God's kingdom and the values of the world. Yet God's grace does not merely forgive sin—it trains and empowers us to overcome it. Titus 2:12 reminds us that every Christian can live a victorious and holy life even in a corrupt generation.
1. Grace Is Our Teacher
The verse begins with the words, "Teaching us..."
God's grace is not a license to continue in sin; it is a teacher that disciplines and transforms us. Through the Holy Spirit and the Word of God, grace teaches us to say "No" to sin and "Yes" to righteousness.
True grace changes conduct as well as character.
2. Deny Ungodliness and Worldly Lusts
To deny means to reject, refuse, and turn away.
Ungodliness is living without reverence for God, while worldly lusts are sinful desires that appeal to the flesh.
Jesus declared,
"If anyone would come after Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me." (Luke 9:23)
Victory begins when we refuse to entertain sin and choose obedience instead.
3. Live Soberly
To live soberly means to exercise self-control, wisdom, and spiritual alertness.
A sober Christian:
•Controls his thoughts.
°Guards his words.
•Disciplines his desires.
•Makes decisions guided by God's Word rather than emotions.
The Holy Spirit enables believers to maintain balance and sound judgment.
4. Live Righteously
Righteous living means treating others with justice, honesty, integrity, and love.
A righteous believer:
•Speaks the truth.
•Keeps promises.
•Refuses corruption.
•Walks in fairness and compassion.
Our lives should reflect Christ in our homes, workplaces, and communities.
5. Live Godly in This Present World
Notice Paul did not say we should wait until heaven to live godly. He said "in this present world."
Though society may reject God's standards, believers are called to shine as lights in darkness (Philippians 2:15).
Holiness is possible because God's grace is sufficient.
Lessons to Remember
God's grace empowers holy living.
Every temptation can be overcome through Christ.
Self-control is evidence of spiritual maturity.
Righteous living glorifies God and influences others.
Christians are called to stand apart from the world while serving it with love.
Conclusion
God has not called us to blend into the world but to transform it through holy living. The same grace that saved us is daily teaching us to reject sin and pursue righteousness. No matter how dark the world becomes, God's children can walk in purity, integrity, and faithfulness.
Choose today to deny ungodliness, reject worldly desires, and live soberly, righteously, and godly. By God's grace, you can be a shining testimony in this present age.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for the grace that not only saves us but also teaches us to live holy lives. Give us strength to reject ungodliness and worldly desires. Help us to live with self-control, righteousness, and godliness every day. Let our lives reflect Christ and bring glory to Your name. Keep us faithful until the day of Christ's return. In Jesus' name, Amen.
