BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE

“Before It Is Too Late”

Text: Zephaniah 2:2–3

Before the decree is carried out, before the day takes away the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD

comes on you, before the day of the LORD’s anger

comes on you. Seek the LORD, all you meek of the earth, who have behaved in accordance with his justice.

Seek righteousness, seek meekness. Perhaps you will be hidden in the day of the LORD’s anger. -Zephaniah 2:2-3

Introduction:

This passage is a solemn call wrapped in urgency. The prophet speaks into a moment just before judgment falls. Notice the repeated word: “before.” It appears again and again like a ticking clock—before the decree is carried out, before the day passes like chaff, before the fierce anger of the Lord comes. This is not poetry for comfort; it is a warning for action.

The phrase “before the decree is carried out” points to a divine decision already established. God’s judgment is not hypothetical. It is determined. Yet, the window of mercy is still open. The imagery of “the day taking away like chaff” reflects suddenness and irreversibility. Just as chaff is blown away by the wind, so will time slip past those who delay repentance.

Then comes the invitation: “Seek the LORD, all you meek of the earth.” The “meek” here are not the weak, but the humble, those who are willing to submit to God’s authority. These are people who have “behaved in accordance with His justice,” yet are still called to go deeper. Obedience yesterday does not replace seeking God today.

The command is threefold:

*Seek the Lord – pursue His presence.

*Seek righteousness – align your life with His standards.

*Seek meekness – cultivate a posture of humility.

Finally, the text says, “Perhaps you will be hidden in the day of the Lord’s anger.” This is not uncertainty about God’s character, but a call to sincere repentance without presumption. It teaches that deliverance is not earned casually; it is found in earnest seeking.

Illustration

Imagine a storm warning issued ahead of a devastating flood. The sirens sound, the alerts go out, and people are told to seek higher ground. Some delay, thinking there is still time. Others act immediately and are safe. The difference is not in the strength of the storm—but in the response to the warning.

Zephaniah is sounding that siren.

This text confronts spiritual procrastination. It reminds us that:

There is a deadline to grace—not because God is unwilling, but because judgment is real.

*There is a call to humility—pride blinds us to urgency.

*There is a place of refuge—those who seek the Lord can be hidden in Him.

Conclusion

“Before” is the mercy of God in time form. It is God saying, “Act now while you can.” The door is still open, but it will not remain open forever.

Call:

Do not wait for a more convenient time. Seek the Lord now. Lay aside pride. Pursue righteousness. Walk in humility. Because the safest place in the day of God’s anger is the presence of God Himself.

Prayer

Lord, awaken our hearts to urgency. Deliver us from delay and complacency. Teach us to seek You with sincerity, to walk in righteousness, and to live in humility. Hide us in Your mercy when the day of judgment comes. Amen.

THE ROYAL LAW AND THE BROKEN HEART

“The Royal Law and the Broken Heart”

Text: James 2:8–10

“If you fulfil the royal law according to the Scripture, ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself,’ you do well. But if you show favoritism, you commit sin and are convicted by the Law as transgressors. For whoever keeps the whole Law, and yet goes wrong in one point, he is guilty of breaking the whole Law.”

Introduction

There is something deeply unsettling about this passage. It lifts us up with one hand—“You do well”—and then brings conviction with the other—“you are transgressors.” It reminds us that the Christian life is not just about knowing what is right, but living it out without compromise.

This is not just a call to morality; it is a call to the heart.

1. The Royal Law: 

Love Without Conditions

James calls it the royal law—the law of the King. It is not ordinary; it carries divine authority:

“Love your neighbour as yourself.”

This love is not selective. It does not choose who deserves kindness. It does not measure worth before extending grace. It is a love that mirrors God Himself.

But let’s be honest—this is where we struggle.

We find it easier to love those who look like us, think like us, help us, or benefit us. But the royal law stretches us beyond comfort. It commands us to love even when it is inconvenient, even when it costs us something.

Illustration: 

Imagine a church where a wealthy man walks in, well-dressed, confident—and immediately, he is welcomed, honored, given the best seat. Then a poor man enters, wearing worn-out clothes, uncertain, overlooked—and he is ignored, perhaps even avoided.

James says, in that moment, the royal law has been broken.

Because love was no longer pure—it became partial.

2. Favoritism: 

-The Silent Sin

James does not soften his words:

“If you show favoritism, you commit sin.”

Favoritism is dangerous because it often hides behind politeness and culture. It doesn’t look like hatred—it looks like preference. But in God’s eyes, it is sin. Why?

Because favoritism contradicts the very nature of God. God does not rank people by status, wealth, tribe, or appearance. At the foot of the cross, everyone stands equal—broken, needy, and dependent on grace.

Favoritism says, “You matter more than them.”

But the gospel says, “All have sinned… and all are invited.”

3. The Weight of the Law: 

-One Break is Total Failure

Then comes the most sobering truth:

“Whoever keeps the whole Law, and yet stumbles in one point, is guilty of all.”

This shatters our illusion of self-righteousness.

We often comfort ourselves: “I may not be perfect, but at least I’m better than others.” “I don’t commit big sins.”

But James reminds us—the Law is not a checklist; it is a standard of perfection.

Breaking one command is not a small mistake—it is rebellion against the Lawgiver.

Illustration: 

Think of a glass window. It may have one small crack—but that crack ruins the whole pane. You cannot say, “Only one part is broken, so the rest is fine.” The entire structure is compromised.

So it is with the Law.

4. The Cry of the Human Heart.

If we are honest, this text leaves us exposed.

Who among us has loved perfectly? Who among us has never shown favoritism? Who among us can say, “I have kept the whole Law”?

The truth is—we all stand guilty. And this is where the sermon turns from conviction to hope.

Because the purpose of the Law is not just to condemn—it is to lead us to grace.

5. The Answer: 

-Mercy Over Judgment

Just a few verses later, James declares:

“Mercy triumphs over judgment.”

Where the Law exposes our failure, mercy offers restoration.

Jesus fulfilled the royal law perfectly. He loved without favoritism. He touched the untouchable, welcomed the rejected, and died for the undeserving.

He did not just teach love—He became love.

And now, He calls us not to earn righteousness, but to receive it—and then reflect it.

Conclusion

This message is not just about how we treat others—it is about the condition of our hearts.

Are we loving like the King commands? Or are we quietly dividing, judging, preferring?

The royal law still stands: Love your neighbour as yourself.

Not when it is easy.

Not when they deserve it.

But because you have been loved first.

Altar Call

Today, God is not just asking for your actions—He is asking for your heart.

*Maybe you’ve been selective in your love.

*Maybe you’ve judged others unfairly.

*Maybe you’ve relied on your own goodness instead of His mercy.

Come back to the place of grace.

*Lay down pride.

*Lay down comparison.

*Lay down hidden prejudice.

And receive a new heart—one that loves like Christ.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

We stand before You, not as perfect people, but as people in need of mercy.

Forgive us for the times we have shown favoritism, for the ways we have failed to love as You commanded.

Teach us to love without conditions.Break every bias in our hearts. Fill us with Your compassion, that we may see others the way You see them.

Thank You for Your mercy that triumphs over judgment. Help us to walk in that mercy every day. In Jesus’ name,..Amen.

THE PERFECT PRIEST FOR A BROKEN PEOPLE

 “The Perfect Priest for a Broken People”

Text: Hebrews 7:26–27

For such a high priest is fitting for us. He is holy, blameless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and exalted above the heavens, who does not need to offer up sacrifice daily, as those high priests, first for his own sins, and then for those of the people, for this he did once for all, when he offered up himself.

Introduction: When “Good Enough” Is Not Enough

There are moments in life when “almost” doesn’t work.

An almost bridge cannot carry weight. An almost cure cannot heal disease. And an almost savior cannot redeem a soul.

The writer of Hebrews lifts our eyes to a powerful truth: we do not serve an “almost” priest—we have a perfect one. A High Priest uniquely qualified, eternally sufficient, and personally effective for our deepest need.

1. “For such a High Priest is fitting for us…” 

— The Perfect Match for Our Need

The phrase “fitting for us” means exactly suitable, precisely what we needed.

Humanity’s condition demanded more than ritual—it demanded redemption.

*We are sinful → He is holy

*We are guilty → He is blameless

*We are stained → He is undefiled

God did not send a partial solution. He sent the perfect answer to our deepest problem.

You are not too broken for Christ. In fact, your condition is exactly why He is the perfect Priest for you.

2. “Holy, blameless, undefiled, separate from sinners…” 

— His Moral Perfection

Each word reveals a dimension of Christ’s character:

*Holy – completely devoted to God

*Blameless – without fault in conduct

*Undefiled – untouched by sin’s corruption

Separate from sinners – not in distance, but in nature

Unlike earthly priests, He did not need cleansing before helping others. He stood pure in a polluted world.

Illustration:

Imagine a doctor infected with the same disease as his patients—he cannot heal effectively. But Christ is the Physician untouched by the disease of sin, able to cure completely.

Because He is pure, He can purify you. Because He is untouched by sin, He can lift you out of it.

3. “Exalted above the heavens…” 

— His Supreme Authority

This speaks of His resurrection and ascension—His victory and authority.

He is not just a priest who serves—He reigns.

*Above limitation

*Above condemnation

*Above every power

The One who intercedes for you is not weak—He is exalted. Your helper is seated in power.

4. “Who does not need to offer sacrifices daily…” 

— The Contrast with Old Priests

Under the old system:

*Priests offered sacrifices repeatedly

*First for their own sins

*Then for the people

It was a cycle of never enough. But Christ is different.

5. “He did this once for all when He offered up Himself” 

— The Final Sacrifice

This is the heart of the gospel. Not repeated → once.

*Not partial → for all

*Not external → Himself

He was both Priest and Sacrifice

Illustration:

Imagine a courtroom where the judge steps down, takes the penalty for the guilty, and then returns to declare them free. That is what Christ did.

You don’t have to keep paying for what Jesus has already paid for. Stop trying to earn what has been finished.

Application: Living in the Power of a Perfect Priest

1. Stop striving—start trusting. Your salvation is not maintained by your effort but secured by His sacrifice.

2. Drop the guilt—embrace grace. If He did it “once for all,” then your past is not stronger than His cross.

3. Come boldly—He is sufficient. You don’t need another mediator. You already have the perfect one.

Conclusion: The Priest Who Was Enough.

*You don’t need another sacrifice.

*You don’t need another system.

*You don’t need another chance to prove yourself.

*You need to believe in the One who already finished the work.

Christ is not trying to save you—He already has made the way.

Altar Call: Come to the Perfect Priest

If you have been:

*Carrying guilt.

*Trying to earn forgiveness

*Feeling unworthy of God’s presence.

Today, come.

Not to a system—but to a Savior.. Not to effort—but to grace. Not to repetition—but to a finished work.

Prayer

Father, Thank You for giving us a perfect High Priest; holy, blameless, and sufficient. Help us to stop striving and start trusting in what Jesus has already done. Break the chains of guilt and replace them with the assurance of grace.

Teach us to live in the confidence of a finished work. And draw every heart here closer to You through the power of Christ.

 “From Death to Life—The Debt Nailed to the Cross”

Text: Colossians 2:13–14

And when you were dead in your sins and the lack of circumcision in your flesh, he made you alive together with him, forgiving you all trespasses, and blotting out the handwriting of decrees that was against us, which was opposed to us, and took it away, nailing it to his cross. -Colossians 2:13-14.

Introduction:

There was a time when we were not just struggling—we were dead. Not weak. Not wounded. Dead in sin. No pulse toward God. No strength to rise. No voice to cry out. Sin had silenced us, chained us, and condemned us.

But then—God.

Not because we cleaned ourselves up. Not because we deserved another chance. But because of His mercy, He made us alive together with Christ.

Can you feel that? The same power that raised Jesus from the grave reached into the grave of your life—and pulled you out!

You were buried under guilt… but He forgave all your trespasses.

Not some. Not most. All.

And then Paul gives us a picture that should break your heart and heal it at the same time:

There was a record—a long, undeniable list of your sins. Every lie. Every hidden thought. Every failure. A legal document standing against you, condemning you.

But Jesus didn’t argue with the list. He took it. And He nailed it… to His cross.

Every accusation—pierced.

Every charge—cancelled.

Every shame—silenced.

The cross was not just wood and nails—it was your debt payment. And when Jesus cried, “It is finished,” heaven stamped your record: PAID IN FULL.

So why live like a prisoner when the door is open?

Why carry guilt that Christ already carried?

Why walk in shame when you’ve been raised in glory?

You are no longer dead.

You are no longer condemned. You are alive in Him.

Come back to the cross.

See your past nailed there.

And walk away free.

Altar Call:

If you’ve been living under guilt, today is your day of release. Lay it down. Christ has already paid for it. Step into the life He died to give you.

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for loving me when I was dead in sin. Thank You for forgiving all my trespasses and nailing my debt to the cross. Help me to walk in the freedom of that finished work. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

JESUS DIED FOR YOU.

Topic: He Died for You — What Have You Done for Him?

Text: Roman 5:8.

"But God demonstrates his love toward us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

Romans 5:8

Introduction: 

Beloved, pause for a moment and let that question settle deep within your spirit: He died for you… what have you done for Him?

This is not a question meant to condemn—it is a question meant to awaken.

We live in a world where love is often measured by words, emotions, or fleeting gestures. But the love that was shown on the cross was not ordinary love. It was sacrificial. It was intentional. It was complete.

He did not just say He loved you—He proved it.

He carried a cross that was not His. He bore a punishment He did not deserve. He endured pain so that you could have peace. He faced death so that you could have life.

And He did it all—for you.

Not because you earned it. Not because you were perfect. But because you were precious to Him.

Now the question echoes: What have you done for Him?

Have you given Him your heart—or just your convenience? Have you followed Him in truth—or only in comfort? Have you remembered Him only in trouble—or in every moment of your life?

Too often, we accept His sacrifice but resist surrender. We celebrate His death, but ignore His call to live differently. We want the crown of blessings, but not the cross of commitment.

But listen—He is not asking for perfection. He is asking for devotion.

He is not asking you to repay Him—because you never could. He is asking you to respond.

Respond with a life that reflects His love. Respond with obedience when it is difficult. Respond with faith when it is inconvenient. Respond with service when no one is watching.

What does it mean to truly do something for Him?

It means loving others when it’s hard. It means forgiving when you’ve been hurt. It means standing for truth even when you stand alone.

It means living in a way that says, “Your sacrifice was not in vain in my life.”

Every day you wake up is another opportunity to answer that question.

Not with empty words… But with a living testimony.

So today, don’t walk away unchanged. Don’t let this be just another message you hear and forget.

-Let it challenge you. 

-Let it stir you. 

-Let it transform you.

Because the greatest response to His death is not just gratitude—it is a surrendered life.

He died for you…

Now live for Him.

A LIFE LAID ON THE ALTAR

“A Life Laid on the Altar”

Text: Romans 12:1.

Introduction

“Therefore, brethren…” Paul is not commanding strangers; he is appealing to family. He speaks with the tenderness of one who understands both the weight of grace and the weakness of humanity. And then he says, “I plead with you…” Not force. Not pressure. A heartfelt appeal.

Why? “Because of the mercies of God.”

Before God ever asks for anything from you, He has already given everything for you. His mercy picked you up when sin cast you down. His mercy kept you when you should have been consumed. His mercy forgave what you cannot undo.

So this is not a sermon about obligation, it is a response to mercy.

1. The Foundation: “Because of the mercies of God”

Everything begins here.

Paul does not say, “Offer yourself so that God will show you mercy.”

He says, “Offer yourself because He already has.”

*You were loved when you were unlovable.

*You were forgiven when you were guilty.

*You were pursued when you were running.

Illustration:

A young man once lived recklessly, squandering every opportunity his father gave him. One day, broken and ashamed, he returned home expecting rejection. Instead, his father ran to him, embraced him, and restored him. Days later, that young man was seen waking early, working diligently, and serving faithfully. Someone asked, “Why are you doing all this?”

He replied, “Because I now know what it cost him to love me.”

When you truly understand mercy, sacrifice stops feeling like loss. It becomes love in action.

2. The Call: “Present your bodies a living sacrifice”

In the Old Testament, sacrifices were dead offerings laid on the altar.

But God now asks for something deeper: a living sacrifice.

,*A dead sacrifice has no will.

*A living sacrifice must choose—daily—to remain on the altar.

This is where it gets difficult. Because living sacrifices can crawl off the altar.

-When obedience becomes inconvenient.

-When holiness feels costly.

-When the world calls louder than God.

Yet the call remains: Stay on the altar.

Illustration:

Imagine placing your life in God’s hands on Sunday—fully surrendered, tears in your eyes, heart wide open. But by Monday morning, you begin to take pieces back: your plans, your desires, your habits.

A living sacrifice must be continually surrendered.

This is not a one-time event; it is a daily decision.

3. The Standard: “Holy, acceptable to God”

God is not asking for a partial life.He desires a consecrated one.

“Holy” means set apart.

“Acceptable” means pleasing in His sight.

It’s not about perfection, but direction. Not about never falling, but always returning to the altar.

God is not impressed by religious activity without surrendered hearts. He desires authenticity—lives that reflect His nature.

Illustration:

A child once gave his father a crumpled drawing, imperfect lines, uneven colors. But the father treasured it. Why? Because it came from the child’s heart.

God is not looking for flawless people. He is looking for surrendered ones.

4. The Reason: “Which is your reasonable service”

After all God has done, Paul says this is reasonable.

Not extreme. Not excessive.

Reasonable.

When you consider:

-The cross

-The blood that was shed.

-The grace that saved you.

-The mercy that kept you.

Giving your life to God is the most logical response.

Anything less would be inconsistent with the love you’ve received.

What does God not have of you?

*He may have your worship, but does He have your habits?

*He may have your words, but does He have your will?

*He may have your Sundays, but does He have your life?

A living sacrifice is not part-time Christianity but a life fully yielded.

Conclusion

God is not asking for your leftovers. He is asking for your life.

Not because He wants to take from you, but because He wants to transform you.

The altar is not a place of loss; it is a place of exchange.

*You bring your brokenness—He gives you wholeness.

*You bring your weakness—He gives you strength.

*You bring your life—He gives you purpose.

Altar Call

Today, God is still pleading:

“Present yourself.”

Not tomorrow. Not when you feel ready. Now.

Lay your life on the altar:

Your ambitions

Your struggles

Your secrets

Your future.

And say, “Lord, I am Yours—completely, continually, and without reservation.”

Prayer.

Heavenly Father,

LOVED AT OUR WORST

“Loved at Our Worst”

Text: Romans 5:8

“But God demonstrates his love toward us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Introduction:

There is a kind of love people celebrate when it is deserved; when you perform well, behave right, or meet expectations. But the love of God is not like that. God did not wait for you to improve before He loved you. He loved you at your lowest, at your worst, at your most undeserving.

Romans 5:8 is not just a verse—it is a revelation of the heartbeat of God. It tells us that God’s love is not a reaction to our goodness, but a decision in spite of our brokenness.

1. “But God…” – The Divine Interruption

Those two words—“But God”—change everything.

Humanity was lost in sin. We were far from God, separated, condemned, and helpless. But God stepped into the story. When justice demanded punishment, mercy spoke up. When sin wrote your story, grace rewrote the ending.

You didn’t find God—He came looking for you.

2. “Demonstrates His Love…” – Love in Action

God didn’t just say He loves you. He proved it.

Love that is only spoken can be doubted. But love that is demonstrated cannot be denied. God put His love on display, not with words, but with a sacrifice.

The cross is heaven’s loudest declaration:

“I love you this much.”

Not when you got your life together. Not when you started praying. Not when you became righteous.

But while you were still a sinner.

3. “While We Were Still Sinners…” – Loved in Our Mess. 

This is the shocking part.

God didn’t wait for you to change. He loved you in your addiction, in your rebellion, in your confusion, in your weakness.

*At your worst moment—God did not turn away.

*At your darkest hour—God did not withdraw.

*At your most shameful state—God leaned in.

We often think: “Let me fix myself, then I will come to God.” But God says: “Come as you are—I will fix you.”

4. “Christ Died for Us” – The Ultimate Sacrifice. 

The proof of God’s love is not in blessings, not in prosperity, not even in answered prayers—it is in the death of Christ.

Jesus didn’t just suffer, He died. And He didn’t die for friends—He died for enemies. He didn’t die for the righteous—He died for sinners.

He took your place.

He bore your punishment.

He carried your shame.

The cross was not an accident but it was intentional love.

The Burning House.

A man once lived in a small house with his son. One night, while the boy was asleep, the house caught fire. The flames spread quickly. Neighbors gathered outside, shouting in panic.

The father rushed into the burning house without hesitation. The smoke was thick, the heat unbearable, but his son was inside.

Moments later, he emerged—burned, injured, barely conscious, but carrying his son safely in his arms.

Someone asked him later, “Why would you risk your life like that?”

The father replied, “He is my son. I didn’t stop to think about the fire—I thought about him.”

That is what God did for you.

Sin was the fire.

You were trapped inside.

And God did not stay at a distance, He stepped into the flames.

Jesus didn’t just risk His life but He gave it.

Conclusion

Romans 5:8 is a mirror and a message.

-It shows us who we were—sinners.

-It shows us who God is—love.

-And it shows us what Christ did—He died for us.

You are not loved because you are perfect.

You are loved because God is love.

Altar Call

Maybe you’ve been running from God, thinking you are too far gone. Maybe guilt has been whispering, “You are not worthy.” Maybe shame has been telling you, “God cannot love someone like you.”

But Romans 5:8 answers all of that.

God already knew your worst—and still chose the cross.

Today, don’t try to clean yourself up. Come as you are.

If Christ died for you while you were still a sinner, how much more will He receive you now that you are coming to Him?

Prayer

Prayer of Surrender:

Lord Jesus, I come to You just as I am. I cannot save myself. Thank You for loving me even when I was lost. Thank You for dying for me. Today, I receive Your love. Forgive my sins, cleanse my heart, and make me new. I give my life to You. Amen.

Prayer of Gratitude:

Father, thank You for a love that never gave up on me. Help me to live in the reality of that love and to share it with others. Let my life be a response to Your sacrifice. Amen.

Final Charge:

Never forget this truth:

You may fail, you may fall, you may struggle—but you are already loved.

And that love has a name: Jesus Christ.

Introduction:

Beloved, we live in a world that celebrates power, noise, and force. Nations invest in weapons, individuals rely on influence, and many believe that victory comes through strength alone. Yet the Word of God confronts that mindset with a quiet but profound truth: wisdom, often unseen and unheard; is greater than brute force.

But the verse does not stop there. It gives us a sobering warning: it only takes one sinner to undo the labor of many wise men.

This is a message about the power of wisdom and the danger of one unchecked life.

1. “Wisdom is better than weapons of war” – The Superiority of Divine Insight

Weapons can win battles, but wisdom wins destinies.

Weapons destroy enemies; wisdom prevents unnecessary wars.

Weapons operate by force; wisdom operates by understanding.

Illustration:

Imagine a small village under attack by a mighty army. The villagers are weak and poorly armed. But among them is a wise elder who understands strategy. Instead of fighting head-on, he devises a plan, he redirects the enemy, creates confusion, and saves the entire village without a single sword lifted.

That is the power of wisdom.

In your home, wisdom builds peace more than arguments win it.

In leadership, wisdom achieves results more than aggression enforces them.

In life, wisdom preserves what strength alone would destroy.

The tragedy is not that wisdom is weak—it is that wisdom is often ignored.

People listen to loud voices, but overlook quiet truth.

Illustration:

A young man ignores the counsel of his parents and elders, choosing instead the loud opinions of his peers. Years later, he finds himself in regret, realizing that the quiet voice he ignored held the key to his success.

Ecclesiastes reminds us: wisdom may not shout, but it saves.:

Learn to discern the voice of wisdom even when it is not popular.

Value godly counsel over societal noise.

What is quiet is not always weak; sometimes it is deeply powerful.

3. “But one sinner destroyeth much good” – The Danger of a Corrupt Influence

Here lies the warning: one person, one wrong decision, one sinful act can undo years of progress.

Sin is destructive beyond its immediate impact. It spreads, corrupts, and dismantles.

Illustration:

A single termite in a house may seem insignificant. But when left unchecked, it multiplies and eventually weakens the entire structure until it collapses.

In a team of diligent workers, one dishonest individual can damage the reputation of the entire organization.

Illustration:

Think of how one act of disobedience in a camp could bring defeat to an entire nation. One life out of alignment can affect many.

Guard your life, your actions have consequences beyond yourself.

One compromise can destroy years of integrity.

One wrong influence can derail a generation.

4. The Responsibility of Every Believer

This verse places a responsibility on each of us:

You are either:

*A carrier of wisdom, building and preserving,

or

*An agent of destruction, knowingly or unknowingly tearing things down.

There is no neutral ground.

Are you building or breaking?

Are your decisions preserving good or destroying it?

Are you walking in wisdom or drifting into careless living?

Conclusion

Beloved, wisdom is greater than strength, strategy, or weapons. It is the unseen force that sustains life, relationships, and destinies.

But never forget:

It takes many wise acts to build, but only one sinful act to destroy.

Choose wisdom daily. Guard your life carefully.

If you have been walking in ways that are tearing down rather than building up…

Topic: FAITH THAT DARES TO COME, EVEN IN THE DARK
Text: John 3:2

Introduction

John 3:2 says:
"The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him."

This verse introduces us to Nicodemus—a Pharisee, a ruler, a religious authority—yet a man with questions. Despite his status, knowledge, and influence, something was missing. And so, he came to Jesus… by night.

Why at night? Was it fear? Was it caution? Was it secrecy? Perhaps all of these. Yet what stands out is not just the timing, but the courage. Nicodemus had a faith that dared to move—even when surrounded by uncertainty, fear, and darkness.

This is the kind of faith God honors: faith that moves, even when it is not yet fully formed.

The verse begins, “The same came to Jesus by night…”

The phrase “came to Jesus” is crucial. It shows intentionality. Nicodemus did not stay in his comfort zone. He pursued truth. The darkness did not stop him; it became the backdrop of his seeking.

Night in Scripture often symbolizes:

• Ignorance
• Fear
• Spiritual blindness
• Hidden struggles

Nicodemus represents those who are religious outwardly but inwardly searching. He knew the law, but he did not yet know life. Still, he came.

Then he said, “Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God…”

Notice the progression:

• He acknowledges Jesus as Rabbi (Teacher)
• He recognizes divine backing (“come from God”)
• He testifies to observable evidence (“no man can do these miracles…”)

However, his understanding was incomplete. He saw Jesus as a teacher—but not yet as Savior. Yet Jesus did not reject him. Why? Because even imperfect faith that moves toward Christ is welcomed.

Nicodemus came with limited revelation, but genuine sincerity.

Illustration

Imagine a man lost in a dense forest at night. He cannot see the full path ahead. The darkness is thick, and fear whispers at every step. Suddenly, he sees a faint light in the distance.

He doesn’t understand everything about the light; where it leads, how far it is; but he begins to walk toward it.

That step though small is powerful.

Nicodemus was like that man. The religious system he knew could not give him light. But he saw something in Jesus, a flicker of divine truth and he moved toward it.

Faith is not always loud and confident. Sometimes, it is quiet, cautious, and trembling but it still moves.

Lessons from Nicodemus’ Faith

1. Faith Moves Despite Fear
   Nicodemus risked reputation and status. True faith often requires stepping beyond what is comfortable.
2. Faith Seeks Truth Honestly.
   He did not pretend to know everything. He came with questions. God is not intimidated by sincere seekers. 
3. Faith Begins Before Full Understanding
   You don’t need complete revelation to come to Jesus. You just need willingness.
4. Faith Grows in Encounter
   This nighttime visit began a journey. Later, Nicodemus would defend Jesus (John 7:50–51) and help bury Him (John 19:39). What began in darkness matured into bold devotion.

Conclusion

Nicodemus came in the night but he did not remain in darkness.

The beauty of this text is not that he came perfectly, but that he came at all.

There are many today:

• Sitting in church but still searching
• Carrying titles but lacking transformation
• Surrounded by light but internally struggling

The message is clear: Come anyway.

-Come with your doubts.
-Come with your questions.
-Come in your darkness.

Because when you come to Jesus, darkness does not have the final say, light does.

Altar Call

Tonight, just like Nicodemus, you may find yourself in a place of inner darkness.

You may:

• Know religion but not relationship
• Feel uncertain about your faith
• Be afraid of what others will think
• Be searching for truth quietly

But hear this: Jesus is available—even in the night.

You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just need to come.

If you are ready to take that step, whether small or bold—pray this prayer:

“Lord Jesus, I come to You just as I am.
I may not understand everything, but I believe You are from God.
Shine Your light into my darkness.
Forgive my sins, cleanse my heart, and reveal Yourself to me.
From today, I choose to follow You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

If you prayed that prayer, your journey has begun, not in darkness, but in light.

Faith that dares to come in the dark will always find the Light.

WHEN THE MIND RESIST THE MIRACLE

Topic: When the Mind Resists the Miracle

Text: John 3:4

“How can a man be born when he is old?”

Introduction:

There are moments in life when what God says does not make sense to the human mind. Moments when heaven speaks, but logic protests. When truth stands before us, yet reason raises objections.

This was the condition of Nicodemus—a learned man, a teacher, a thinker. Yet, in the presence of divine truth, his intellect became a barrier instead of a bridge.

Jesus said, “You must be born again.”

Nicodemus replied, “How can this be?”

This is the tension we all face: When logic collides with truth. When the mind resists the miracle.

1. “How can…” – The Limits of Human Reason

Nicodemus did not reject Jesus—he questioned Him.

But his question revealed something deeper: he was trying to fit a spiritual reality into a natural framework.

“How can a man be born again?” To him, it was illogical. Impossible. Absurd.

And many of us are the same.

God says, “Forgive,” and we say, How can I forgive after what they did?

God says, “Trust Me,” and we say, How can I trust when I’ve been disappointed?

God says, “You are new,” and we say, How can I be new when I feel the same?

Human reason has limits. It can analyze, calculate, and explain—but it cannot comprehend the fullness of God.

The gospel confronts our pride because it removes our control.

It tells us: You cannot save yourself. You must surrender.

And the mind resists what it cannot control.

But listen carefully: God is not obligated to make sense but He is committed to make truth.

Faith begins where explanation ends.

2. “When he is old” – The Fear That It’s Too Late

Nicodemus wasn’t just questioning the process—he was questioning the possibility.

“When he is old…”

In other words: Isn’t it too late? Haven’t I gone too far? Haven’t I lived too long this way?

This is the silent cry of many hearts: “I’ve made too many mistakes.”

“I’ve carried this habit for years.”

“I’ve wasted too much time.”

“God can’t start with me now.”

But hear this truth:

*Grace does not operate on your timeline.

*Mercy is not limited by your history.

God does not check your age before offering new life.

He does not count your failures before extending forgiveness.

If it were too late, Jesus would not have spoken to Nicodemus at all.

The very fact that you are hearing this message means, God is not finished with you yet.

Illustration: You don’t stand every morning asking, “How does the sun rise?”

You don’t analyze the mechanics of light before stepping into it.

You simply wake up—and the light is there.

In the same way:

New birth is not something you fully explain—it is something you experience.

You don’t have to understand everything to receive something.

👉 What you can’t explain, God can still perform.

Conclusion: Nicodemus came with logic, but he encountered truth.

And truth does not argue, it invites.

Jesus did not give him a scientific breakdown.

He gave him a spiritual invitation:

“You must be born again.”

Not “figure it out.”

Not “analyze it.”

But receive it.

Altar Call:

Today, God is calling someone beyond logic,  beyond excuses, and  beyond fear.

You’ve been asking, “How can this be?”

But God is asking, “Will you believe?” Stop trying to understand everything before you obey anything.

This is your moment.

It’s not too late.

You’re not too far gone.

You’re not too old.

The miracle is still available.

If you are ready to stop resisting and start receiving…

If you are ready to let truth override logic…

Come. Open your heart.

Prayer

Father, in the name of Jesus, I surrender my need to understand everything.

I release my doubts, my fears, and my limitations.

Where my mind has resisted, let my spirit receive. Where I have said “How can,” help me to say “I believe.”

Give me the experience of new birth.

Transform my heart. Renew my life. Let Your truth become my reality. And let Your miracle begin in me today. In Jesus’ name I pray...Amen.

THE BLESSEDNESS OF GODLY SORROW

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.-Matthew 5:4

Introduction

We avoid sorrow. We distract ourselves from pain. But Jesus declares that there is a kind of sorrow that leads to blessing.

“Blessed are they that mourn…”

This is deep grief—not over circumstances—but over sin:

• Your personal sin
• The brokenness of the world
• Sorrow over your separation from God

It is the sorrow that says, “Lord, I have grieved You.”

“…for they shall be comforted.”

This comfort is not superficial.

it is divine:

• Forgiveness
• Restoration
• Peace with God

Illustrations:

When a child truly understands they have hurt a loving parent, their sorrow is deep—but it opens the door for reconciliation.

• Do you still feel conviction for sin?
• Or have you grown comfortable with what once grieved you?

Conclusion

God does not ignore broken hearts—He heals them.

The Beatitudes are not just teachings—they are a transformation journey.

They describe:

* A broken spirit

* A repentant heart

*A submissive will.

*A hungry soul.

* A merciful life.

* A pure heart.

* A peaceful influence.

Topic: WHEN TRUTH IS HEARD BUT NOT RECEIVED

Text: John 3:11 — “Ye receive not our witness.”

Introduction

In this powerful statement, Jesus speaks with a tone of concern and urgency. He is addressing Nicodemus, a religious leader, a man educated in the law, yet spiritually disconnected. Jesus had spoken truth—clear, divine, life-giving truth—but it was not received.

There is a difference between hearing and receiving. Many people sit under the sound of the Word. They hear sermons, read Scripture, and even agree intellectually. Yet, their lives remain unchanged because truth has not been welcomed into their hearts.

Truth rejected is opportunity wasted. And heaven grieves when revelation meets resistance.

1. Truth Must Be Received to Be Effective

Jesus said, “Ye receive not our witness.” This tells us that truth, no matter how powerful, must be received to produce results.

The Word of God is like a seed. But a seed on the surface cannot grow. It must enter the soil.

You can hear the gospel and still remain unchanged. You can know the truth and still live in bondage. Why? Because truth has not been embraced.

Reception involves humility, openness, and surrender. It is not enough to say, “I heard it.” You must say, “I accept it, I believe it, I will live by it.”

Until truth is received, it remains inactive in your life.

2. Resistance Hardens the Heart

When truth is consistently resisted, the heart does not remain neutral—it becomes hardened.

Every time truth is ignored, questioned with pride, or delayed, something happens within the soul. Sensitivity to God begins to fade.

What once convicted you no longer moves you. What once stirred your heart becomes ordinary. This is the danger of resistance.

Nicodemus struggled to accept what Jesus said because it challenged his understanding and position. Pride often stands as a barrier to receiving truth.

A hardened heart does not happen overnight—it is formed through repeated rejection of divine witness.

3. Rejection Delays Transformation

God’s truth is meant to transform lives—instantly and progressively. But when truth is rejected, transformation is postponed.

The power to change is present, but access is denied.

There are people who have been hearing the same message for years, yet remain in the same condition. Not because truth is absent, but because acceptance is absent.

Delayed obedience is still disobedience. And delayed reception delays your breakthrough.

Transformation begins the moment truth is welcomed.

Illustration

Rain falling on stone produces no harvest—only runoff.

The rain is real. The water is sufficient. But the surface is unyielding.

In the same way, God’s Word may be pouring continuously, but if the heart is like stone—closed, resistant, hardened—nothing grows.

The problem is not the rain. The problem is the ground.

Conclusion

Jesus’ words echo today: “Ye receive not our witness.”

This is not just a statement—it is a warning.

Truth is being spoken. Life is being offered. Grace is being extended. But the question remains: Are you receiving it?

Hearing truth without receiving it leaves you unchanged. And unchanged lives cannot reflect the glory of God.

God is not looking for listeners only—He is looking for receivers.

Today, the Word has come to you again.

Not just to inform you—but to transform you.

Will you continue to hear and walk away the same?
Or will you open your heart and receive what God is saying?

If you have resisted truth… if you have delayed obedience… if your heart has grown cold… this is your moment.

Come before God with humility and say:

“Lord, I receive Your truth. Break every hardness in my heart. Help me not just to hear—but to obey.”

If you are not born again, this is where it begins. Receive Jesus—not just as knowledge, but as Lord and Savior.

*Exposure to truth is useless without surrender to it.

May your heart be good soil. May truth find a home in you. And may your life bear fruit for the glory of God. Amen.

INTRODUCTION

Life is a battlefield of two powerful, invisible forces—Truth and Lies. Every day, consciously or unconsciously, we are influenced by one of these forces. Truth builds, liberates, and leads to life. Lies destroy, deceive, and ultimately lead to death.

In Matthew 13:23, Jesus describes the good soil—the heart that receives truth, understands it, and produces fruit. This tells us that what we embrace determines what we become.

Beloved, the question is not whether these forces exist; the question is: which one is shaping your life?

1. Matthew 13:23 – The Good Soil

This verse speaks of a heart that:

*Hears the Word (truth)

*Understands it

*Produces fruit

Truth only transforms when it is received, understood, and applied.

2. Proverbs 3:5,7 – Trusting God vs Trusting Self

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart…”

“Be not wise in your own eyes…”

God’s wisdom leads to life.

Lie: Human understanding alone is not sufficient.

3. Proverbs 16:27 – The Destructive Power of Lies

“An ungodly man digs up evil…”

Lies are not passive but they are active forces of destruction.

They spread like fire.

4. Jeremiah 10:23 – The Limitation of Man

“It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps.”

We need divine guidance.

Lie: “I can figure life out on my own.”

THE TWO OPPOSING FORCES

1. THE FORCE OF TRUTH

*Comes from God

*Produces clarity, peace, direction.

*Leads to growth and fruitfulness

2. THE FORCE OF LIES

*Comes from the enemy

*Produces confusion, fear, deception

*Leads to destruction and stagnation

It is like the Seed and the Soil. A farmer plants two seeds: One in fertile soil (truth) → grows and multiplies

One in poisoned soil (lies).l, dies or produces nothing

Lesson: Your heart condition determines your outcome.

Or the Wrong Map  Imagine traveling with a wrong map:

You may be sincere, but you will still be lost

Lesson: Sincerity does not replace truth.

Sweet Poison: Poison mixed with sugar still kills.

Lesson: Lies often look attractive but carry deadly consequences.

1. Truth Must Be Loved

Truth is not always comfortable—but it is always necessary.

2. Lies Must Be Hated

You cannot tolerate what God condemns.

3. You Cannot Serve Both

You must choose: God’s Word or human opinion.

Divine direction or self-direction

*Examine what you believe daily

*Test every thought with God’s Word

*Reject anything that contradicts the truth

*Cultivate a heart that receives truth

CONCLUSION

The battle between truth and lies is not outside—it is within your heart and mind.

Matthew 13:23 shows us the outcome of choosing truth: fruitfulness, increase, and purpose.

If you love truth, your life will flourish. If you embrace lies, destruction is inevitable.

*Choose truth. *Live truth. *Defend truth.

THE BEAUTITUDES

A HOLY HUNGER

Text: Matthew 5:6

Adjoining Text: Isaiah 55:1–2

Introduction

Everyone is hungry for something.

Some hunger for success—climbing higher, achieving more.

Some hunger for approval—seeking validation from others.

Some hunger for pleasure—chasing temporary satisfaction.

Yet, beneath all these desires lies a deeper emptiness that nothing in this world can truly satisfy.

Jesus speaks into this universal longing and declares:

“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”

There is a hunger that leads to life—and only one hunger that truly satisfies.

“Hunger and thirst…”

This is not a casual interest.

It is not a polite desire or a mild curiosity. It is intense, urgent, consuming.

Hunger and thirst are among the strongest human drives.

*A hungry man cannot ignore food.

*A thirsty man cannot delay water.

Jesus is describing a soul that cannot live without God.

A heart that says, “I must have Him, or I perish.”

“…after righteousness…”

This hunger is not for things—but for righteousness.

A longing to:

*Be right with God – restored, forgiven, accepted

Live right before God – holy, obedient, aligned with His will.

It is a desire not just for blessings, but for transformation. Not just for provision, but for purity.

This is the cry of a soul that refuses to settle for anything less than God Himself.

“…they shall be filled.”

This is not a suggestion—it is a promise.

God does not tease the hungry; He satisfies them.

He does not ignore the thirsty; He fills them.

The world offers temporary relief—but lasting emptiness. God offers lasting satisfaction—deep, full, overflowing.

As Isaiah declares:

“Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy?”

God alone fills the hungry soul.

Illustration

A starving man does not sit and debate food.

He does not analyze it or postpone it.

He pursues it—with urgency, desperation, and focus.

In the same way, a spiritually hungry person does not play games with God.

They seek Him—earnestly, passionately, relentlessly.

What consumes your desire?

*Is it success more than righteousness?

*Approval more than holiness?

*Pleasure more than God?

Whatever you hunger for will shape your life.

Whatever you pursue will determine your destiny.

If your hunger is misplaced, your life will be unfulfilled.

But if your hunger is for righteousness, God Himself will satisfy you.

Conclusion

God fills those who crave Him.

-Not the casual seeker.

-Not the indifferent heart.

But the one who hungers…

The one who thirsts…

The one who refuses to be satisfied with anything less than Him.

The Beatitudes are not just teachings—they are a transformation journey.

They describe:

*A broken spirit

*A repentant heart

*A submitted will

*A hungry soul

*A merciful life

*A pure heart

*A peaceful influence

*A faithful endurance

This life is not natural—it is supernatural.

Come to Jesus.

Lay down your pride

Release your distractions

Let go of lesser desires

Ask God to awaken your hunger again.

If you feel empty, it is not because God is absent, 

It is because something else has taken His place.

Return to Him. Desire Him. Pursue Him. And He will fill you.

Prayer

“Lord Jesus, shape my life according to Your Word.

Let these Beatitudes become my reality.

Awaken in me a holy hunger for righteousness.

Transform me from the inside out.

Fill every empty place in my soul. In Jesus name, Amen.”

1. O LORD OF MY SALVATION; I accept and confess my sins to you,r

The Greatest Verse Ever Spoken

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Love That Gave Everything

Introduction

John 3:16 is not just a verse—it is the heartbeat of the Gospel. It is the Bible in miniature, the message of salvation in one sentence, and the clearest revelation of God’s love toward humanity.

If all of Scripture were lost and only this verse remained, it would still be enough to lead a sinner to salvation.

This verse answers the greatest questions of life:

*Does God love me?

*Can I be saved?

*What must I do?

*What awaits me after this life?

Today we explore the greatest love story ever told—God’s love for a fallen world.

1. God So Loved – The Source of Salvation

Salvation did not begin with man seeking God—it began with God loving man.

“For God so loved…”

-The source is not religion

-The source is not human effort

-The source is not morality

👉 The source is God Himself

This love is:

Unconditional – He loved us while we were sinners

Undeserved – We did nothing to earn it

Unfailing – It does not change with our behavior

Romans 5:8 echoes this truth: “While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

God did not wait for you to improve—He loved you at your worst.

2. The World – The Scope of Salvation

“…the world…”

This speaks of the extent of God’s love.

-Not just the righteous

-Not just the religious

-Not just one nation or race

👉 The entire world

This includes:

-The broken

-The forgotten

-The guilty

-The lost

No one is excluded from the reach of God’s love.

Illustration:

The sun shines on everyone—the rich and poor, the good and evil. In the same way, God’s love extends to all humanity.

But take note: Though His love is universal, salvation must be personally received.

3. He Gave His Son – The Cost of Salvation

“…that He gave His only begotten Son…”

Love is proven by what it gives—and God gave His best.

He didn’t give:

-Angels

-Silver or gold

-A prophet

👉 He gave His only Son

This was not a cheap gift—it was a costly sacrifice.

Jesus was mocked, beaten and crucified

The cross reveals the price of our redemption.

Illustration:

Love is measured not by words spoken—but by sacrifices made.

👉 The cross is God saying, “I love you this much,” with arms stretched wide.

4. Whosoever Believes – The Simplicity of Salvation

“…that whosoever believeth in Him…”

Here lies the simplicity of the Gospel.

Not:

-Whosoever works

-Whosoever earns

-Whosoever deserves

But whosoever believes.

Salvation is not complicated—it is accessible.

To believe means:

*To trust completely

*To depend fully

*To surrender wholly

It is not just head knowledge—it is heart reliance.

:

You don’t have to climb up to God—just believe in the One who came down for you.

5. Everlasting Life – The Reward of Salvation

“…should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Two destinies are presented:

*Perish

-Eternal separation from God.

-Judgment and destruction

*Everlasting Life

-A restored relationship with God

-Eternal joy and peace

Life that begins now and continues forever

This is not just length of life, but quality of life—life with God.

 Salvation is not just rescue from hell—it is entrance into eternal fellowship with God.

The cross is love written in blood.

Conclusion

John 3:16 is more than a verse to memorize—it is a truth to respond to.

-God has already loved

-God has already given

-God has already made the way

The question is: Will you believe?

Today, God’s love is reaching out to you.

You may be:

Lost in sin. Burdened with guilt. Unsure of your salvation

But hear this clearly:

👉 You are loved

👉 You are invited

👉 You can be saved today

All it takes is belief in Jesus Christ.

If you are ready, pray:

“Lord Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God.

I believe You died for my sins and rose again.

I receive Your love and Your gift of salvation.

Come into my life and make me new creation.

Thank You for saving me. Amen.”
