THE LORD LIVES

“The LORD Lives”

Text: “And you will swear in truth, in justice, in righteousness, ‘The LORD lives’; and the nations will bless themselves in him, and in him they will glory.” — Jeremiah 4:2

Introduction

The prophet Jeremiah spoke to a nation that had drifted far from God. The people still used God’s name with their lips, but their hearts were cold and their lives were crooked. God called them back—not merely to religion, but to truth, justice, and righteousness.

Our generation also says many words about God, but heaven is asking: Do our lives prove that the Lord truly lives in us?

To say, “The LORD lives,” is more than a slogan. It means:

✓God is real.

✓God is reigning.

✓God is watching.

God is still changing lives.

When God truly lives in a person, truth replaces deception, justice replaces oppression, and righteousness replaces sin.

1. “In Truth”

God desires truth in our words and in our hearts. A believer cannot claim to serve a living God while living a double life.

Many people know how to sound spiritual, but God is looking for sincerity. The living God hates falsehood because Satan is the father of lies.

Illustration

A counterfeit currency note may look beautiful, but when tested under light, its falsehood is exposed. In the same way, many appearances look holy before men, but God examines the heart.

The Lord is calling His people to honest worship, honest dealings, and honest repentance.

2. “In Justice”

Justice means living rightly toward others. A living faith must produce a compassionate life.

You cannot shout “Hallelujah” in church and crush people outside church. God cares about how we treat the poor, the weak, our families, and even our enemies.

Illustration

The story is told of a shopkeeper who cheated customers during the week but led prayers loudly on Sundays. One day a little child said, “If your God is alive, why do you behave differently when nobody is watching?” That question pierced his heart and led him to repentance.

When the Lord truly lives in us, people should see Christ in our conduct.

3. “In Righteousness”

Righteousness is not perfection by human effort; it is a life surrendered to God. God wants His people separated from sin and devoted to holiness.

The world does not need more empty religion; it needs believers whose lives shine in darkness.

When righteousness fills our lives:

✓Our homes change.

✓Our speech changes.

✓Our desires change.

✓Our witness becomes powerful.

Then nations will see God’s glory through His people.

Conclusion

Jeremiah’s message is still alive today: return to God genuinely. The Lord is not dead. He still saves, restores, heals, delivers, and transforms.

But if we declare “The LORD lives,” our lives must agree with our confession.

The greatest sermon many people will ever hear is not from a pulpit—it is the testimony of a transformed life.

Altar Call

Perhaps you have spoken about God, but your heart is far from Him. Maybe sin, compromise, bitterness, or hypocrisy has weakened your walk with God.

Today, Jesus is calling you back.

Come to Him with sincerity. He is ready to forgive, cleanse, and restore you. The living Christ can make you new again.

Say: “Lord Jesus, forgive me. Cleanse my heart. Let my life reflect Your truth, justice, and righteousness. Let the world see that You truly live in me. Amen.”

Prayer Points

1. Lord, remove every form of hypocrisy from my life.

2. Help me to walk in truth, justice, and righteousness.

3. Let my life become a testimony that Jesus lives.

4. Father, revive Your church and make us true witnesses.

5. Let the nations see Your glory through Your people.

6. O Lord, transform my heart and keep me faithful until the end.
