"Abounding Grace for Every Good Work"

Text: 2 Corinthians 9:8
"And God is able to make all grace flow to you in abundance, so that you, always having all sufficiency in everything, may have an abundance for every good work."

Supporting Texts: Philippians 4:19; Ephesians 2:10; James 1:17; John 15:5.

Introduction

Many believers worry about whether they have enough strength, wisdom, finances, or opportunities to serve God faithfully. This verse is God's answer to such fears. Paul reminds us that our sufficiency does not come from ourselves but from God's abundant grace. The God who calls us to His work also supplies everything we need to accomplish it.

1. God Is the Source of Every Grace

The verse begins, "God is able."

Our confidence is not in our ability but in God's power. He is able to provide spiritual strength, material provision, wisdom, courage, and endurance. Whatever God commands, He also enables.

Paul does not say that grace is scarce; he says God makes "all grace abound." God's resources are never exhausted.

2. God's Grace Produces Sufficiency

Paul continues, "Always having all sufficiency in everything."

Notice the repeated words:

• Always – God's provision is continual.
• All sufficiency – He supplies every genuine need.
• Everything – No area of life is outside His care.

This does not promise a life of luxury, but it assures us that God will provide what is necessary to accomplish His purpose.

Philippians 4:19 echoes this truth:

"My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."

3. God's Blessings Have a Purpose

The verse concludes, "...that you may have an abundance for every good work."

God blesses us so that we may become a blessing to others.

Grace is not meant to stop with us; it should flow through us.

Every blessing from God should produce:

• Generosity.
• Service.
• Compassion.
• Evangelism.
• Faithfulness.

As Ephesians 2:10 teaches, we are created in Christ Jesus for good works.

4. Grace Leads to Fruitful Living

Jesus declared in John 15:5,

"Without Me you can do nothing."

When we remain in Christ, His grace enables us to bear lasting fruit. Every act of kindness, every sacrifice, every ministry, and every faithful service is sustained by God's grace.

Conclusion

God never calls His children to a task without providing the grace to accomplish it. His grace is abundant, His provision is sufficient, and His purpose is that we abound in every good work.

Do not focus on what you lack. Look to the God who is able. Trust His grace, depend on His strength, and dedicate your life to serving Him.

Ask yourself:

• Am I relying on my own strength or on God's grace?
• Am I using God's blessings for His glory?
• Am I abounding in good works that honor Christ?

Today, surrender your limitations to God. Believe that His grace is enough, and allow Him to make your life fruitful for His kingdom.

God's abundant grace provides all we need so that we can abound in every good work for His glory.
