HEAR HIS VOICE TODAY

HEAR HIS VOICE TODAY

Introduction.
The Psalmist declares:
“For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand. Today if you will hear His voice, do not harden your heart...” — Psalm 95:7-8

This scripture reveals two powerful truths: First, God is a loving Shepherd who cares for His people. Second, man has the dangerous ability to ignore the voice of God.

God still speaks today through His Word, through conviction, through sermons, through circumstances, and through the Holy Spirit. The greatest tragedy is not that God is silent, but that many hearts have become hardened.

1. We Belong to God
The Bible says, “We are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand.”

A sheep depends completely on the shepherd for direction, protection, and survival. Without the shepherd, the sheep wanders into danger.

Many people today want God’s blessings but not His leadership. They want provision without obedience. But Christianity is not merely attending church; it is daily following the Shepherd’s voice.

Jesus said in The Gospel of John, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”

The proof that we belong to God is our willingness to obey Him.

2. The Danger of a Hardened Heart
The Psalm warns: “Do not harden your heart, as in the day of testing in the wilderness.”

The Israelites saw miracles:
👉the Red Sea opened,
👉manna fell from heaven,
👉water came from the rock, yet they still doubted God.

A hardened heart develops gradually:
✔️repeated disobedience,
✔️ignoring conviction,
✔️delaying repentance,
✔️becoming comfortable in sin.

The more a person says “later” to God, the weaker their spiritual sensitivity becomes.

A heart that no longer trembles at God’s Word is in a dangerous condition.

Illustration
A man once ignored a small crack in the wall of his house. He kept postponing repairs because the damage seemed insignificant. Months later, during a heavy storm, the entire wall collapsed.

What was ignored in its early stage became disastrous later.

In the same way, many people ignore the gentle warnings of God:

🤞“Forgive.”
🤞“Repent.”
🤞“Return to prayer.”
🤞“Leave that sinful habit.”

“Surrender your life to Christ.”

What we repeatedly ignore can eventually destroy us spiritually.

That is why the scripture says, “Today if you will hear His voice.”

3. God Speaks in the Present — “Today
Notice the word “Today.”

God deals with us in the present. Tomorrow is not promised to anyone. Delayed obedience is still disobedience.

When God calls:
👍respond today,
👍repent today,
👍surrender today,
👍forgive today,
👍return today.

Every moment God speaks is an opportunity for transformation.

Conclusion
God is still calling His people like a Shepherd calling wandering sheep. His voice brings life, peace, direction, and salvation.

But the condition of our hearts determines our response.

A soft heart receives correction. A hardened heart resists God until destruction comes.

Do not allow pride, sin, disappointment, or unbelief to harden your heart against God.

When you hear His voice today, answer Him.

Altar Call
Perhaps God has been speaking to you for a long time:
🙏about your salvation,
🙏your prayer life,
🙏your secret sins,
🙏your bitterness,
🙏your spiritual lukewarmness.

Today is the day to return to Him.

Jesus Christ is calling you lovingly. Do not resist Him any longer.

If you want to surrender your life to Christ or renew your relationship with Him, pray sincerely:

“Lord Jesus, forgive my sins. Remove every hardness from my heart. I surrender my life to You today. Teach me to hear Your voice and obey You. Be my Lord and Shepherd. Amen.”

Prayers
1. Lord, give me a tender and obedient heart.
2. Father, remove every spiritual hardness and stubbornness from my life.
3. Lord, help me to recognize Your voice clearly.
4. Every power pulling me away from God, lose your hold in Jesus’ name.
5. Father, give me the grace to obey You immediately.
6. Lord Jesus, keep me faithful until the end.  Amen.
