Topic: "When Man Builds without God"

Text: Genesis 11:3–4

"And they said to one another, 'Come on, let us make bricks and bake them thoroughly.' And they had brick instead of stone, and they had tar instead of mortar. And they said, 'Come on, let us build for ourselves a city and a tower, the top of which will reach to heaven, and let us make a name for ourselves, so we won’t be scattered over the surface of the whole earth.'"

Introduction

The story of the Tower of Babel is not merely about constructing a tall building. It is the story of a generation that possessed great intelligence, unity, and ambition, but left God out of their plans. They desired greatness without God, security without God, and fame without God.

Today many people are still building towers—careers, businesses, ministries, families, and reputations—but they often neglect the One who gives lasting success. Any life built without God may rise quickly, but it cannot stand forever.

Psalm 127:1: "Unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in vain who build it."

1. They United around Human Pride

"Come, let us build... let us make a name for ourselves."

Their greatest motivation was self-glory, not God's glory.

Pride always shifts attention from God to self. Lucifer fell because of pride (Isaiah 14:12–15). Nebuchadnezzar was humbled because he glorified himself instead of God (Daniel 4:30–37).

God blesses those who seek His name, not those obsessed with making their own name great.

Illustration. 

A balloon rises because it is filled with air, but one small pin causes it to collapse. Pride may lift a person for a season, but humility keeps a person standing.

James 4:6: "God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble."

2. They Trusted their own ability oore than God

"They made bricks... they baked them thoroughly."

Their technology was impressive. Their organization was remarkable. Yet none of these could replace dependence upon God.

Talent without God becomes arrogance.

Knowledge without God becomes confusion.

Success without God becomes destruction.

God is not against excellence or hard work. He is against self-sufficiency that ignores Him.

Proverbs 3:5–6

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart... and He shall direct your paths."

3. They Rejected God's Purpose. 

"So we won't be scattered over the whole earth."

God had already commanded humanity to fill the earth (Genesis 9:1). Instead of obeying, they decided to remain together in rebellion.

Many frustrations in life begin when people substitute personal plans for God's purpose.

Blessing always follows obedience.

Illustration. 

A fish may admire the beauty of the land, but the moment it leaves the water, it begins to die. Outside God's purpose, life loses its true strength.

4. Human achievements cannot reach Heaven.

"A tower whose top will reach to heaven."

They imagined that human effort could accomplish what only God's grace can provide.

No tower of religion, wealth, education, or good works can bring anyone to heaven.

Jesus said:

"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6)

Salvation is received through Christ, not earned by human achievement.

Lessons,.

- Unity without God leads to confusion.

- Ambition without God leads to frustration.

- Success without humility leads to downfall.

- The safest place is in the center of God's will.

Conclusion:

The builders of Babel wanted to make a name for themselves, but today their tower stands only as a reminder of human pride. In contrast, those who humble themselves before God receive an everlasting inheritance.

Ask yourself:

- Am I building my life for God's glory or my own?

- Is God directing my plans?

- Is Christ the foundation of everything I am building?

Only what is built upon Christ will survive eternity.

Altar Call. 

Perhaps you have been building your life without God. You have depended on your own wisdom, strength, or achievements. Today Jesus invites you to surrender your life to Him. Let Him become the foundation of your life.

If you desire to follow Christ, pray. 

"Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that without You my efforts are empty. Forgive my sins. Remove every spirit of pride and self-dependence. Be the Lord and foundation of my life. Teach me to live for Your glory and not my own. In Jesus' name. Amen."

Prayer Points. 

1. Father, remove every spirit of pride from my life, in Jesus' name.

2. Lord, help me to build my life according to Your will.

3. Every project outside God's purpose, Lord, redirect me.

4. Father, let my life bring glory to Your name alone.

5. Lord, establish every work that is founded upon Your Word.

THE CONDITION OF HIMAN HEART.

Topic: THE CONDITION OF HIMAN HEART.

Text: "And the LORD saw that the wickedness of man in the earth was great, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually." — Genesis 6:5

Introduction. 

God does not merely observe our outward actions; He searches the heart. Before the flood, humanity had become so corrupt that every thought was continually evil. This verse reminds us that sin begins in the heart long before it appears in our actions. While this passage reveals God's judgment, it also points us to His mercy, because in the next verses God found grace through Noah (Genesis 6:8).

The same God who saw the corruption of the world still sees every heart today. His desire is not merely to condemn sinners but to transform them.

1. God Sees Everything. 

"The LORD saw..."

Nothing escapes God's attention. People may hide their sins from others, but nothing is hidden from God.

Bible references::- Psalm 139:1–4 - Hebrews 4:13

- Proverbs 15:3

God sees our secret prayers, hidden struggles, and private thoughts. Since He sees all, we should live lives that please Him.

Illustration:

A child may think he has hidden a broken vase by sweeping the pieces under a bed, but the parent already knows. Likewise, we cannot hide our lives from God. The wisest decision is to come honestly before Him.

2. Sin Begins in the Heart. 

"Every imagination of the thoughts of his heart..."

Before people committed evil deeds, evil occupied their minds. Every action starts as a thought.

Jesus said:

"Out of the heart proceed evil thoughts..." (Matthew 15:19).

Therefore, believers must guard their hearts.

What fills your mind today will shape your life tomorrow.

3. Persistent Sin Leads to Judgment. 

"Only evil continually."

The people of Noah's generation refused to repent. Their continuous rebellion eventually brought God's judgment through the flood.

God is patient, but His patience should lead us to repentance, not complacency.

Today is the day to turn back to God.

4. God's Grace Can Change Any Heart.

Although the world was corrupt, Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord (Genesis 6:8).

God always preserves a faithful remnant. Through Jesus Christ, every sinner can receive a new heart.

Bible references::: Ezekiel 36:26, 2 Corinthians 5:17, John 3:16

No matter how dark your past has been, God's grace is greater than your sin.

Illustration:

A dirty white garment may appear ruined, but when washed with the right cleanser it becomes clean again. In the same way, the blood of Jesus cleanses every repentant sinner from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:7).

Conclusion. 

Genesis 6:5 is both a warning and an invitation. It warns us against allowing sin to control our hearts, and it invites us to seek the transforming grace of God.

God is still looking upon the earth today. May He find hearts that love Him, trust Him, and obey Him.

Altar Call. 

If your heart has drifted away from God, this is the moment to return. Jesus Christ died and rose again so that sinners might receive forgiveness and a new life. Repent of your sins, believe in Him, and surrender your life completely to Christ. He will give you a clean heart and a new beginning.

Prayer Points. 

1. Father, search my heart and reveal anything that displeases You.

2. Lord Jesus, cleanse me from every hidden sin by Your precious blood.

3. Holy Spirit, renew my mind and help me think on what is holy and pure.

4. Give me a heart that loves righteousness and hates evil.

5. Let my life be pleasing in Your sight until the day I see You in glory.

Key Thought: God sees the heart, judges sin, but offers grace to everyone who comes to Him in repentance.May God use this message to challenge hearts, lead sinners to repentance, and encourage believers to pursue holiness.

Prayers for Enlargement and Increase. 

Break off of my life any limitations and restrictions placed on my life by any evil spirits in the name of Jesus.

I bind and cast out all python and constrictor spirits in the name of Jesus.

Bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast. Let Your hand be with me, and keep me from evil (1 Chron. 4:10).

Cast out my enemies, and enlarge my borders (Exod. 34:24).

Lord, You have promised to enlarge my borders (Deut. 12:20).

Enlarge my heart so I can run the way of Your commandments (Ps. 119:32).

The Subtlety of the Serpent"

Topic: "The Subtlety of the Serpent"

Text: Genesis 3:1

"Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, 'Really, did God say, "You shall not eat of every tree of the garden?"'"

Introduction. 

Genesis 3 marks the beginning of humanity's fall. Satan did not attack Eve with force but with deception. He questioned God's Word, twisted the truth, and planted seeds of doubt. Today, he still uses the same strategy. Believers must learn to recognize and resist his subtle devices.

2 Corinthians 11:3, John 8:44, 1 Peter 5:8, Ephesians 6:11

1. The Enemy Works Through Subtlety. 

The serpent was described as "more subtle." Satan rarely appears in an obvious way. He disguises temptation as wisdom, pleasure, opportunity, or freedom.

Lesson: Not everything that looks good is from God.

Illustration: 

A fisherman hides the hook inside attractive bait. The fish sees the bait but not the hook. Satan hides destruction behind attractive temptations.

2. Satan's First Target Is God's Word. 

His first question was, "Did God really say?"

Whenever Satan wants to weaken a believer, he attacks confidence in Scripture.

Today he asks:

•Does God really mean holiness?

•Does prayer really matter?

•Is Jesus really the only way?

Jesus answered every temptation with, "It is written" (Matthew 4:4-10).

Lesson: 

Victory belongs to those who know God's Word.

3. Doubt Opens the Door to Disobedience. 

Once Eve entertained doubt, disobedience followed.

James 1:14-15 teaches that desire leads to sin, and sin leads to death.

Never negotiate with temptation. Reject it immediately.

4. Guard Your Mind Against Deception. 

Believers must protect their hearts and minds.

•Study the Scriptures daily.

•Pray continually.

•Stay in fellowship with faithful believers.

•Test every teaching by God's Word.

Proverbs 4:23: "Guard your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life."

Practical Lessons

•Know God's Word personally.

•Do not entertain sinful suggestions.

Be alert because Satan still deceives.

•Depend on the Holy Spirit for discernment.

Conclusion

The same serpent who deceived Eve still seeks to deceive people today, but Christ has defeated Satan through His death and resurrection (Colossians 2:15). As believers remain grounded in God's Word and obedient to Christ, they can overcome every deception.

 "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." (James 4:7)

Altar Call. 

Perhaps you have allowed doubt, compromise, or sin to weaken your walk with God. Today, Jesus Christ calls you back to Himself. Repent, believe His Word, and surrender your life completely to Him. He alone can forgive sin, restore fellowship with God, and give victory over the enemy.

Prayer Points

1. Lord, give me discernment to recognize every deception of the enemy.

2. Help me to stand firmly upon Your Word.

3. Fill me with the Holy Spirit so that I may overcome every temptation.

4. Every plan of Satan against my life and family, be destroyed in Jesus' name.

5. Lord, keep me faithful until the return of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Prayers Concerning the Heavens. 

I am sitting in heavenly places in Christ, far above all principality, power, might, and dominion (Eph. 1:3).

I take my position in the heavens and bind the principalities and powers that operate against my life in the name of Jesus.

I break and rebuke every program in the heavens that would operate against me through the sun, the moon, the stars, and the constellations.

I bind and rebuke any ungodly forces operating against me through Arcturus, Pleiades, Mazzaroth, and Orion (Job 38:31–32).

I bind and rebuke all moon deities and demons operating through the moon in the name of Jesus (2 Kings 23:5).

I bind all sun deities and demons operating through the sun in the name of Jesus (2 Kings 23:5).

I bind all deities and demons operating through the stars and planets in the name of Jesus (2 Kings 23:5).

The sun shall not smite me by day nor the moon by night (Ps. 121:6).

The heavens were created to be a blessing to my life.

I receive the rain and blessing from heaven upon my life in the name of Jesus.

I pray for angels to be released to war against any spirit in the heavens assigned to block my prayers from being answered (Dan. 10:12–13).

I bind the prince of the power of the air in the name of Jesus (Eph. 2:2).

I pray for the floodgates of heaven to be opened over my life (Mal. 3:10).

I pray for an open heaven, and I bind any demonic interference from the heavens in the name of Jesus.

Let the evil powers of heaven be shaken in the name of Jesus (Matt. 24:29).

Let the heavens drop dew upon my life (Deut. 33:28).

Bow the heavens and come down, O Lord (Ps. 144:5).

Let the heavens be opened over my life, and let me see visions (Ezek. 1:1).

Let There Be Light

Topic: Let there be Light

Text: Genesis 1:3
"And God said, 'Let there be light'; and there was light."

Introduction

Genesis begins with a picture of darkness, emptiness, and confusion. The earth was "without form and void," and darkness covered the deep (Genesis 1:2). Before God created plants, animals, or mankind, His first recorded command was, "Let there be light." Wherever God speaks, darkness must flee.

Today, God is still speaking light into lives filled with sin, fear, confusion, sickness, and hopelessness. The same God who spoke at creation still speaks through His Word.

Psalm 119:130 – "The entrance of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple."

1. Light comes by the Word of God

God did not struggle with darkness. He simply spoke.

Darkness cannot resist the spoken Word of God.

The world was changed not by force but by God's voice.

Reference Scriptures

• Psalm 33:6,9 – "By the word of the LORD the heavens were made... He spoke, and it came to be."
• Hebrews 11:3 – "The worlds were framed by the word of God."

Whatever darkness surrounds your life today—financial problems, sickness, confusion, or spiritual weakness—God's Word is powerful enough to change it.

2. Light Separates Good from Evil

After light appeared, God divided the light from darkness (Genesis 1:4).

Light always exposes what darkness hides.

Jesus came as the Light of the world to separate truth from error.

Reference Scriptures

• John 8:12 – "I am the light of the world."
• Ephesians 5:8-11 – "Walk as children of light."

When Christ enters a life, old habits begin to disappear. Salvation separates believers from the kingdom of darkness.

3. Jesus Christ is the True Light

The light in Genesis points prophetically to Jesus Christ.

Before physical creation needed light, humanity would eventually need spiritual light.

• 2 Corinthians 4:6

Just as God commanded light to shine at creation, He shines His light into human hearts through Christ.

4. God's Light gives Direction

Without light, people stumble.

Many people today are not destroyed because they lack intelligence, but because they lack divine direction.

• Psalm 119:105 – "Your word is a lamp unto my feet."
• Proverbs 3:5-6

God's Word reveals the next step when the future seems uncertain.

5. Believers are called to Shine

God does not give us light merely to enjoy it but to reflect it.

• Philippians 2:15

A Christian should shine in character, love, holiness, humility, and good works.

Illustration: 

The Dark Room

Imagine entering a room that has been dark for many years. You do not remove darkness with a broom or bucket. You simply switch on the light. Instantly, darkness disappears.

Likewise, God removes spiritual darkness not by human effort but by His Word.

Blind Bartimaeus

Bartimaeus lived in physical darkness (Mark 10:46-52). When Jesus called him, his darkness ended immediately.

Jesus still opens blind eyes—both physically and spiritually.

Saul on the Road to Damascus

Saul was spiritually blind while believing he was right. On the road to Damascus, a brilliant light from heaven confronted him (Acts 9:1-18). That encounter transformed a persecutor into the Apostle Paul.

One encounter with the Light of Christ can completely redirect a life.

Lessons

• Darkness cannot overcome God's light.
• God's Word creates new beginnings.
• Jesus is the Light every sinner needs.
• Walking with Christ means walking in light.
• Every believer is called to shine before the world.

Conclusion

The first words that broke the silence of creation were, "Let there be light."

Today, God still speaks those words into broken homes, troubled hearts, dying churches, confused minds, and sinful lives.

No darkness is too deep for God's light. The God who transformed creation can transform your life. His Word still has creative power. When God speaks, impossibilities become possibilities.

Altar Call

Perhaps your life is filled with darkness—sin, guilt, fear, addiction, bitterness, or uncertainty. Jesus declared:

John 8:12 – "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

Come to Christ today. Repent of your sins, believe in Him, and receive His light. He will forgive you, give you a new heart, and lead you into eternal life.

Prayer Points

1. Father, let every area of darkness in my life receive Your divine light.
2. Lord Jesus, shine Your light into my heart and transform me completely.
3. Let every confusion, fear, and oppression disappear by the power of Your Word.
4. Help me to walk as a child of light and reflect Christ wherever I go.

Why should I offer my  Firstfruits?

Text: "As for the offering of firstfruits, you shall offer them to the LORD, but they shall not be burned on the altar as a soothing aroma." — Leviticus 2:12

Introduction

The law of firstfruits reminded Israel that God is the owner of everything they possessed. Before enjoying the harvest, they were to present the first and the best to Him. Interestingly, Leviticus 2:12 says the firstfruits were to be offered to the Lord, but not burned on the altar as a soothing aroma. This teaches that while every offering is valuable, each offering has a distinct purpose in God's plan.

1. The Firstfruits Acknowledge God's Ownership

The firstfruits represented gratitude and recognition that the entire harvest belonged to God.

Reference Text: Proverbs 3:9-10 – "Honor the LORD with your substance and with the firstfruits of all your increase."

Lesson:

• Everything we have comes from God.
• Giving God the first place invites His blessing upon the rest.

Illustration: A farmer who keeps the first basket for himself forgets who sent the rain and sunshine. But the one who first honors God demonstrates trust that there is more harvest to come.

2. Firstfruits Demonstrate Faith in God's Future Provision

The firstfruits were given before the full harvest was gathered.

Reference Text: Romans 11:16 – "If the firstfruit is holy, the lump is also holy."

Lesson:

• Firstfruits are an act of faith, not convenience.
• We trust God with what is first because we believe He will provide what remains.

3. Every Offering Has Its Divine Purpose

The firstfruits were accepted by God, but they were not burned as a sweet aroma on the altar.

Lesson:

• God values obedience more than ritual.
• We must worship God according to His instructions, not according to our preferences.
• The acceptance of our worship depends on obedience.

4. Christ Is Our Firstfruits

The firstfruits pointed prophetically to Jesus Christ.

Reference Text:

• 1 Corinthians 15:20 – "Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep."
• James 1:18 – Believers are described as a kind of firstfruits of God's creation.

Lesson:

• Christ is God's first and perfect offering.
• Those who belong to Christ should live lives dedicated to God.

Conclusion

Leviticus 2:12 teaches that God deserves our first, our best, and our wholehearted obedience. The firstfruits offering was more than an agricultural practice—it was an expression of faith, gratitude, and submission. When we honor God first, we declare that He is Lord over every area of our lives.

Illustration

A businessman receives his first salary after months of unemployment. Instead of spending it all on himself, he first thanks God and honors Him. That act is not about the amount—it is a declaration that God remains his source. Those who recognize God as the source of every blessing will never hesitate to give Him the first place.

Altar call:

Ask yourself:

• Does God have first place in my life?
• Am I giving Him my best or only what is left?
• Am I obeying Him according to His Word?

Today, commit to honoring God with your time, talents, possessions, and heart.

Prayer Points

1. Father, help me to always honor You with the first and the best of my life.
2. Lord, remove every spirit of selfishness and teach me grateful obedience.
3. May my life become an acceptable offering before You through Jesus Christ.
4. Lord, increase my faith to trust You as my Provider in every season.
5. Let Christ, the Firstfruits, be fully formed in me, and let my life bring glory to Your name. Amen.

Will pressure pushes you beyond God's Will

Text: 1 Samuel 13:7, 11

 "As for Saul, he was still in Gilgal, and all the people followed him trembling... And Samuel said, 'What have you done?' And Saul said, 'Because I saw that the people were scattering from me...'"

Introduction. 

Life often places us under pressure. Financial problems, family crises, sickness, delays, and opposition can tempt us to act outside God's instructions. King Saul faced such a moment. Instead of waiting for God's appointed time, he allowed fear and pressure to control his decisions. This sermon teaches that pressure is never a valid excuse for disobedience.

Cross reference Text: James 1:4 – "Let patience have her perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing."

1. Fear Can Destroy Faith. 

The Israelites were trembling before the Philistines. Saul also became afraid because his army was shrinking.

Fear causes people to:

~Abandon God's promises.

~Trust human wisdom instead of divine direction.

~Make costly mistakes.

Faith waits on God; fear rushes ahead of God.

Illustration: 

Abraham and Sarah became impatient with God's promise and produced Ishmael through human effort. The consequences lasted for generations.

2. Pressure Reveals What Is Truly in the Heart. 

Samuel asked Saul, "What have you done?"

Instead of accepting responsibility, Saul gave excuses:

-"The people were leaving me."

-"You did not come."

-"The Philistines were gathering."

Pressure does not create our character; it reveals it.

A mature believer says, "Lord, I will obey You no matter the circumstances."

3. Never Replace Obedience with Convenience. 

Saul offered the sacrifice because it seemed necessary.

Many today compromise because:

-They fear losing opportunities.

-They fear losing friends.

-They fear losing money.

-They fear public opinion.

But delayed obedience is better than hurried disobedience.

Cross reference Text: Proverbs 3:5-6 – "Trust in the LORD with all your heart... and He shall direct your paths."

4. God's timing is always Perfect. 

Samuel arrived shortly after Saul had finished offering the sacrifice. If Saul had waited a little longer, he would have obeyed God completely.

Many blessings are lost because people refuse to wait.

God's delays are not God's denials.

Conclusion.

Saul lost a kingdom not because he lacked ability, but because he lacked patience and obedience under pressure.

Whenever life becomes difficult, remember:

~Do not let fear control your decisions.

~Do not justify disobedience with excuses.

~Wait for God's timing.

~Obey God's Word regardless of the pressure.

Those who wait on God will never be put to shame.

Altar Call. 

Have you allowed fear, impatience, or pressure to lead you away from God's will? Today, return to Him. Repent of every act of self-will and choose to trust His timing. Christ calls you to a life of faithful obedience. Surrender your heart to Him and ask Him to strengthen your faith to stand firm in every trial.

Prayer Points:

1. Father, deliver me from every spirit of fear and impatience.

2. Lord, give me the grace to wait for Your perfect timing.

3. Every pressure pushing me toward disobedience, lose your power in Jesus' name.

4. Father, help me to obey You even when circumstances are difficult.

5. Lord, let my faith remain steadfast until Your promises are fulfilled.

6. May I never lose my divine destiny through impatience or compromise, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Lord, bless me and keep me. Make Your face to shine upon me, and be gracious unto me. Lord, lift up Your countenance upon me and give me peace (Num. 6:24–26).

Make me as Ephraim and Manasseh (Gen. 48:20).

Let me be satisfied with favor and filled with Your blessing (Deut. 33:23).

Lord, command Your blessing upon my life.

Give me revelation, and let me be blessed (Matt. 16:17).

I am the seed of Abraham through Jesus Christ, and I receive the blessing of Abraham. Lord, in blessing, bless me, and in multiplying, multiply me as the stars of heaven and as the sand of the seashore.

“FOLLOW WHEN GOD GIVES YOU THE ADVANTAGE”

Text: Judges 3:28

 “And he said to them, Follow me, for the LORD has delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand. So they went down after him and seized the fords of the Jordan against the Moabites and permitted not a man to pass over.”

Introduction

There are moments in life when victory is not determined by how strong the enemy is, but by whether we are willing to follow God's appointed direction.

Israel had been under the oppression of Moab. The enemy appeared stronger, established, and difficult to defeat. But God raised Ehud as a deliverer.

Ehud did not merely defeat the enemy and walk away. He returned with a clear instruction:

“Follow me.”

That statement contains a powerful principle:

When God gives you a deliverer, an instruction, and an opportunity, your responsibility is to follow.

The victory had been provided by God, but Israel still had to move.

1. “FOLLOW ME” — VICTORY REQUIRES OBEDIENCE

The first words of Ehud were:

“Follow me.”

*He did not say, “Watch me.”

*He did not say, “Admire me.”

*He said, “Follow me.”

There is a difference between watching someone experience victory and following the instruction that leads to victory.

Israel could have said:

“Ehud has already done enough.”

“Let us wait and see what happens.”

“We are tired of fighting.”

“Perhaps the Moabites will leave by themselves.”

But they followed.

God often gives an instruction before He gives the visible manifestation of victory.

-Abraham had to go before he knew where he was going.

-Israel had to step into the Jordan before the waters parted.

-Peter had to cast the net before experiencing the miraculous catch.

-The disciples had to fill the waterpots before they saw the water become wine.

Faith is not merely believing that God can act; faith responds when God says, “Follow.”

There are blessings attached to obedience that cannot be accessed by observation.

You can admire what God is doing in another person's life and still miss what God wants to do through you.

Don't just watch the move of God. Follow His direction.

2. “FOR THE LORD HAS DELIVERED” — RECOGNIZE THE SOURCE OF VICTORY

Ehud said:

“The LORD has delivered your enemies…”

Notice that Ehud did not take the glory.

He did not say:

 “I have defeated Moab.”

He pointed them to God.

The victory was God's before it became Israel's experience.

This is important because the person God uses is not necessarily the source of the victory.

Ehud was the instrument.

God was the Deliverer.

Psalm 44:3

 “For they did not gain possession of the land by their own sword, nor did their own arm save them; but your right hand, your arm, and the light of your countenance…”

God deserves the glory for every victory.

•When the battle is won, remember who gave you the strength.

•When the door opens, remember who opened it.

•When the enemy retreats, remember who delivered you.

•When the impossible becomes possible, remember:

“The LORD has delivered.”

3. “YOUR ENEMIES” — KNOW WHAT YOU ARE FIGHTING. 

Ehud specifically identified the enemy:

“Your enemies the Moabites…”

Spiritual victory requires spiritual discernment.

You cannot effectively confront what you refuse to identify.

Israel knew who had oppressed them.

Likewise, believers must recognize the things that are standing against God's purpose.

Sometimes the enemy is:

•Fear

•Sin

•Disobedience

•Discouragement

•Bitterness

•Compromise

•Spiritual laziness

•Wrong relationships

•Unbelief

Ephesians 6:12 reminds us that our ultimate struggle is not merely against human beings but against spiritual forces.

Therefore, we must not waste our energy fighting the wrong battles.

A powerful question:

What is the “Moab” that has been occupying territory in your life?

What has been controlling you that God wants to deliver you from?

What has become normal that God wants removed?

What has intimidated you that God has already given you authority to confront?

4. “INTO YOUR HAND” — GOD CAN PUT THE ENEMY WITHIN YOUR REACH

This is one of the most encouraging statements in the text:

“The LORD has delivered your enemies … into your hand.”

The enemy that once controlled Israel was now within their reach.

There are seasons when the thing that frightened you yesterday becomes the very thing God gives you authority over today.

Goliath stood before David as a giant, but God put Goliath into David's hand.

Jericho stood before Israel as an obstacle, but God put Jericho into Israel's possession.

The problem may still look large, but God's promise is larger.

-Don't confuse appearance with authority.

-The Moabites still existed.

-The Jordan still existed.

-The fords still existed.

But something had changed:

God had changed Israel's position.

They were no longer merely victims.

They were now participants in God's victory.

5. “THEY WENT DOWN AFTER HIM” — DON'T STOP AT THE WORD

This is where the sermon becomes practical.

The Bible says:

“So they went down after him…”

They acted on what they heard.

There is a difference between receiving a word and responding to a word.

Many people love prophecy but resist responsibility.

They love promises but avoid obedience.

They want God to do everything while they do nothing.

But Israel heard:

“Follow me.”

And the Bible says:

“They went down after him.”

James 1:22

“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only…”

The blessing often lies on the other side of obedience.

•God speaks.

•Faith hears.

•Obedience moves.

•God brings victory.

6. “THEY SEIZED THE FORDS” — SECURE THE PLACE OF TRANSITION. 

The Israelites did something strategic:

“They seized the fords of the Jordan against the Moabites…”

The Jordan crossings were strategic points.

Whoever controlled the fords could control movement across the river.

Israel didn't merely defeat an enemy; they secured the place through which the enemy could escape or return.

This teaches us something profound:

Don't merely win the battle; secure the victory.

If God delivers you from something, don't return to it.

If God delivers you from an addiction, don't keep visiting the environment that feeds it.

If God delivers you from destructive relationships, establish boundaries.

If God delivers your mind from bitterness, don't continually rehearse the offense.

If God brings you out of spiritual bondage, don't keep looking backward.

Secure the ford.

Close the door through which the enemy keeps returning.

7. “PERMITTED NOT A MAN TO PASS OVER” — FINISH WHAT GOD STARTED. 

The verse concludes:

“And permitted not a man to pass over.”

They didn't partially obey.

They didn't secure one ford and abandon another.

They understood the assignment.

The victory required persistence.

There are battles that are won initially but lost because people become careless after victory.

You may defeat something today and have to remain vigilant tomorrow.

Galatians 6:9

“Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due time if we do not give up.”

Don't stop halfway.

Don't abandon your prayer life because the crisis has reduced.

Don't abandon holiness because temptation has become weaker.

Don't abandon the Word because the immediate problem has disappeared.

Complete the assignment.

Three Major Lessons From Judges 3:28

1. Follow God's direction

You cannot experience the full benefit of God's victory while refusing His instruction.

2. Trust God's provision

The battle belongs to God, and the victory must ultimately be credited to Him.

3. Secure what God has given you

Don't leave open doors for yesterday's enemy to return.

Illustration: 

The Open Gate.

Imagine a city that has been attacked by an invading army. The defenders finally defeat the enemy and drive them away.

But after the celebration, they leave the city gate wide open.

The enemy that was defeated can return through the same entrance.

Winning the battle is one thing. Securing the gate is another.

Many people pray for deliverance but fail to change the habits, relationships, environments, and attitudes that gave the enemy access in the first place.

Seize your ford. Guard your gates. Protect your victory.

Conclusion: “FOLLOW ME”

Judges 3:28 contains a simple but powerful progression:

“Follow me.”

“The LORD has delivered.”

“Go after him.”

“Seize the fords.”

“Permit no enemy to pass.”

This is the pattern of victorious living.

God gives the victory, but we must respond in obedience.

God opens the door, but we must walk through it.

God breaks the chain, but we must refuse to return to bondage.

God gives the opportunity, but we must seize it.

Today, God may be saying to somebody:

“Follow Me.”

Follow Me out of fear.

Follow Me out of compromise.

Follow Me out of yesterday's failures.

Follow Me into obedience.

Follow Me into holiness.

Follow Me into your divine assignment.

Follow Me into victory.

The question is not whether God is able to deliver.

He is.

The question is:

Will you follow?

ALTAR CALL

Perhaps you have been fighting a battle for a long time.

Perhaps something has controlled your life, your family, your mind, or your spiritual progress.

Today, God is saying:

“Follow Me.”

Jesus said in Matthew 11:28:

“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Come to Christ.

Surrender your life to Him.

Leave the old life behind.

Follow Him.

The One who calls you is also the One who can deliver you.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Prayer for deliverance

O Lord, every enemy standing against Your purpose for my life, deliver me from their power, in Jesus' name.

2. Prayer for obedience

Father, give me grace to follow You even when I do not understand everything You are doing.

3. Prayer for victory

Every battle that has resisted my progress, by the power of God, let victory be established in my life, in Jesus' name.

4. Prayer for open doors

Every door God has opened for me, give me wisdom and courage to walk through it.

5. Prayer to secure victory

Every gate through which the enemy has repeatedly entered my life, let that gate be permanently closed, in Jesus' name.

6. Declaration

The Lord has delivered my enemies into my hand.

I will not retreat.

I will not surrender.

I will follow the Lord.

I will seize my opportunity.

I will secure my victory.

And I will finish what God has started in my life, in Jesus' mighty name. Amen!

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

CONFESSION PRAYERS

No weapon formed against me shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against me in judgment I condemn (Isa. 54:17).

I am established in righteousness, and oppression is far from me (Isa. 54:14).

The weapons of my warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds (2 Cor. 10:4).

I take the shield of faith, and I quench every fiery dart of the enemy (Eph. 6:16).

I take the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, and use it against the enemy (Eph. 6:17).

I am redeemed from the curse of the law. I am redeemed from poverty. I am redeemed from sickness. I am redeemed from spiritual death (Gal. 3:13).

I overcome all because greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4).

I stand in the evil day having my loins girded about with truth, and I have the breastplate of righteousness. My feet are shod with the gospel of peace. I take the shield of faith. I am covered with the helmet of salvation, and I use the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God (Eph. 6:14–17).

I am delivered from the power of darkness and translated into the kingdom of God’s dear Son (Col. 1:13).

I tread upon serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt me (Luke 10:19).

I do not have the spirit of fear but power, love, and a sound mind (2 Tim. 1:7).

I am blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Eph. 1:3).

I am healed by the stripes of Jesus (Isa. 53:5).

My hand is upon the neck of my enemies (Gen. 49:8).

You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. Goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life (Ps. 23:5–6).

I am anointed to preach, to teach, to heal, and to cast out devils.

I receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness, and I reign in life through Christ Jesus (Rom. 5:17).

I have life and that more abundantly (John 10:10).

I walk in the light as He is in the light, and the blood of Jesus cleanses me from all sin (1 John 1:7).

I am the righteousness of God in Christ (2 Cor. 5:21).

I am the head and not the tail (Deut. 28:13).

I shall decree a thing, and it shall be established in my life (Job 22:28).

I have favor with God and with man (Luke 2:52).

Wealth and riches are in my house, and my righteousness endures forever (Ps. 112:3).

I will be satisfied with long life, and God will show me His salvation (Ps. 91:16).

I dwell in the secret place of the Most High, and I abide under the shadow of the Almighty (Ps. 91:1).

No evil will befall me, and no plague shall come near my dwelling (Ps. 91:10).

My children are taught of the Lord, and great is their peace (Isa. 54:13). 

I am strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man (Eph. 3:16).

I am rooted and grounded in love (Eph. 3:17).

I bless my natural enemies, and I overcome evil with good (Matt. 5:44).

They Have Rejected Me

They Have Rejected Me

Text: 1 Samuel 8:7–8

 "And the LORD said to Samuel, 'Listen to the voice of the people... for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them.'" — 1 Samuel 8:7

Introduction. 

Israel reached a critical moment in its history. Instead of trusting God as their King, they demanded a human king "like all the nations" (1 Samuel 8:5). Their request appeared reasonable on the surface, but God exposed the real issue—it was not a rejection of Samuel's leadership but a rejection of God's rule.

Many people today still reject God's authority, not always by denying His existence, but by refusing His lordship over their lives. This passage is a solemn warning against replacing God's will with human desires.

1. The Greatest Rejection Is Rejecting God's Reign

God said, "They have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me."

Israel wanted a visible king instead of the invisible God who had faithfully led them from Egypt. They exchanged divine leadership for human leadership.

Many people make the same mistake today:

They trust money more than God.

They rely on human wisdom instead of God's Word.

They follow popular culture instead of biblical truth.

A person may attend church and still reject God's reign by refusing to obey Him.

Bible references:: Luke 19:14 — "We will not have this man reign over us."

Illustration

A sheep that wanders away from its shepherd believes it has found freedom. Instead, it exposes itself to wolves. Likewise, rejecting God's authority never produces true freedom; it leads to destruction.

2. Rejection Begins with Small Acts of Disobedience

God reminded Samuel:

 "Since the day that I brought them up from Egypt... they have forsaken Me and served other gods."

Israel's demand for a king was not an isolated event. It was the result of years of gradual compromise.

Spiritual decline never happens overnight. It begins with:

•Neglecting prayer.

•Ignoring God's Word.

•Loving worldly pleasures.

•Excusing sin.

Little compromises eventually produce open rebellion.

Bible references:: Proverbs 14:12 — "There is a way that seems right unto a man, but its end is the way of death."

3. Rejecting God Always Leads to Bondage. 

Israel believed a king would solve their problems. Instead, Samuel warned them that their king would:

•Take their sons.

•Take their daughters.

•Take their land.

•Tax their harvest.

•Make them servants (1 Samuel 8:10–18).

Sin always promises freedom but produces slavery.

People often reject God's commandments because they appear restrictive, only to become slaves to addiction, guilt, fear, or broken relationships.

Jesus declared:

 "Everyone who commits sin is the servant of sin." (John 8:34)

4. God Still Gives People the Freedom to Choose. 

God instructed Samuel to grant their request.

This reveals a sobering truth: God sometimes allows people to experience the consequences of their choices.

When people continually resist God's voice, He may permit them to walk in their own ways.

Yet even in judgment, God's mercy remains available to all who repent.

Conclusion. 

The tragedy of Israel was not that they desired a king; it was that they no longer wanted God to reign over them.

The question today is:

-Who is ruling your life?

-Are your decisions controlled by God's Word or by the world?

-Have you surrendered completely to Christ?

Jesus came not only to save us but to reign as Lord. The safest place in life is under the government of God.

Illustration. 

A pilot once ignored the instructions from the control tower because he believed he knew a better route. Moments later, his aircraft entered dangerous weather and narrowly escaped disaster. The tower existed to protect him, not to control him.

God's commandments are not given to limit us but to preserve us.

Altar Call. 

If you have been resisting God's authority, today is the day to return. Lay down your own plans, ambitions, and stubbornness before Him. Invite Jesus Christ to become not only your Savior but also your Lord and King. When God reigns, peace, purpose, and eternal security follow.

Prayer Points

1. Father, forgive me for every way I have rejected Your authority.

2. Lord Jesus, reign completely over every area of my life.

3. Remove every idol competing for my heart.

4. Give me a heart that delights in obeying Your Word.

5. Keep me from following the ways of this world.

6. Holy Spirit, help me to trust God's leadership above human wisdom.

7. Let my life continually testify that the Lord alone is my King.

PRAYERS TO OVERCOME SATANIC AND DEMONIC CONSPIRACIES.

Prayers to Overcome Satanic and Demonic Conspiracies. 

I loose confusion against every satanic and demonic conspiracy against my life.

Let the secret counsel of the wicked be turned into foolishness.

Let those gathered against me be scattered.

Send out Your lightning, O Lord, and scatter the enemy.

Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues (Ps. 55:9).

No weapon formed against me shall prosper. The gates and plans of hell shall not prevail against me.

I overcome every strategy of hell against my life.

Every strategy of hell is exposed and brought to light.

I receive the plans of God for my life, thoughts of peace and not evil to bring me to an expected end.

I am delivered from every satanic trap and plot against my life.

I release the whirlwind to scatter those who would conspire against me.

Let those who devise my hurt be turned back and brought to confusion.

Let the nets they have hid catch themselves, and into that very destruction let them fall.

I bind and rebuke every spirit of Sanballat and Tobiah in the name of Jesus (Neh. 6:1–6).

Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked (Ps. 64:2).

The Danger  of rejecting the Truth.

Text: 2 Thessalonians 2:11–12

"And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, so that they will believe the lie, that they all might be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness."

Introduction

We live in a generation where truth is often rejected and falsehood is celebrated. Many call evil good and good evil. The apostle Paul warns that there comes a point when those who continually reject God's truth are allowed to embrace deception. This is one of the most sobering warnings in Scripture.

God does not delight in condemning anyone. He desires all people to repent and be saved. However, persistent rejection of the truth hardens the heart until deception becomes judgment.

Cross reference: Romans 1:24-28; John 8:31-32.

1. The Truth was first rejected

Paul says they "did not believe the truth."

Before delusion came, truth had already been presented. God never judges without first giving people an opportunity to respond.

Truth came through:

• The Word of God.
• The preaching of the gospel.
• The conviction of the Holy Spirit.
• The witness of faithful believers.

The tragedy was not ignorance but deliberate rejection.

Illustration: When Pharaoh repeatedly rejected God's command through Moses, his heart became harder with every refusal until judgment came upon Egypt.

Lesson: Every rejection of God's truth makes the next rejection easier.

2. They loved Sin more than Truth

The Scripture says they "had pleasure in unrighteousness."

Many people do not reject Christ because there is insufficient evidence. They reject Him because they prefer a sinful lifestyle.

Sin blinds the mind. Pleasure hardens the conscience. Disobedience opens the door to deception.

What begins as enjoying sin often ends in believing lies.

Illustration: Samson ignored repeated warnings because he loved pleasure more than holiness. Eventually he lost his strength, his vision, and his freedom.

3. Strong Delusion is a form of Divine Judgment

God "sends" strong delusion in the sense that He gives people over to the deception they have chosen.

Just as Romans 1 says God "gave them over," persistent rebellion eventually results in God allowing sinners to experience the consequences of their choices.

This teaches us that judgment is not always immediate destruction. Sometimes judgment is believing lies while thinking they are truth.

A deceived person often feels confident while moving farther away from God.

4. The Greatest protection against Deception is loving the Truth

Earlier in this chapter Paul says they refused the love of the truth.

It is not enough merely to know the truth. We must love it. We must obey it. We must live by it.

Jesus declared:

"You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." (John 8:32)

Those who remain humble before God's Word are protected from deception.

5. Examine your Heart today. 

The warning is for everyone.

Ask yourself:

• Am I obeying God's Word?
• Have I ignored the Holy Spirit's conviction?
• Have I justified sin?
• Do I love truth even when it corrects me?

Today is the day to repent before the heart becomes hardened.

Conclusion

This passage is both a warning and an invitation.

Those who reject truth eventually embrace lies. Those who delight in sin eventually become blinded by it. But those who receive Christ, love His Word, and walk in obedience will remain in His light.

God still offers mercy today. His grace is available to everyone who repents and believes.

Illustration

A compass that is slightly damaged may point in the wrong direction. A traveler who trusts it without checking against the true north may confidently walk farther and farther away from safety. Likewise, a heart that rejects God's truth may become convinced it is right while heading toward destruction. God's Word is our true north.

Altar Call:

If you have drifted from God's truth, do not harden your heart. Repent today. Ask the Lord to forgive you, cleanse you, and renew your love for His truth. Jesus Christ is the Truth, and everyone who comes to Him in faith will find mercy, forgiveness, and eternal life.

Prayer Points.

1. Father, give me a heart that loves Your truth above every worldly pleasure.
2. Lord, expose every deception operating in my life.
3. Holy Spirit, keep me sensitive to Your conviction.
4. Father, remove every hardness from my heart and grant me genuine repentance.
5. Help me to walk in holiness and obedience until the return of Jesus Christ.
6. Let my life be established in Your Word, and preserve me from every end-time deception.
7. May my family and the Church remain steadfast in the truth of Christ until the end. Amen.
