Text: Titus 2:11–14
For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared for all men, and teaches us to reject ungodliness and worldly desires, and to live soberly, righteously and godly in this present world, as we look for the blessed hope and the glorious appearing of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all wickedness and purify for himself a special people, eager to do good deeds.
Introduction:
The Apostle Paul reminds us that God's grace is not merely a gift that saves us; it is also a teacher that transforms us. The same grace that brings salvation is the grace that shapes our character and directs our conduct.
1. Grace Has Appeared to All
"For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared for all men."
God's grace is available to everyone. No one is beyond God's reach. Through Jesus Christ, God has opened the door of salvation to all people. This is a message of hope: regardless of your past failures, weaknesses, or mistakes, God's grace is sufficient to save and restore you.
2. Grace Teaches Us to Say "No"
"It teaches us to reject ungodliness and worldly desires."
Grace is not a license to continue in sin; it is the power to overcome it. God's grace trains believers to turn away from habits, attitudes, and desires that dishonor Him. When temptation comes, grace gives us strength to choose God's way over the world's way.
3. Grace Teaches Us to Say "Yes"
"To live soberly, righteously and godly in this present world."
God never removes something from our lives without replacing it with something better. Grace teaches us self-control, righteous living, and devotion to God. Even in a corrupt world, believers can shine as examples of integrity, purity, and faithfulness.
4. Grace gives us Hope
"As we look for the blessed hope and the glorious appearing of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ."
Christians are people of hope. We are not living only for today; we are looking forward to the return of Jesus Christ. This hope motivates us to remain faithful, endure difficulties, and keep serving God with joy.
5. Grace makes us God's special People
"Who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all wickedness and purify for himself a special people, eager to do good deeds."
Jesus did not die merely to forgive us; He died to transform us. We are redeemed, purified, and set apart for God's purposes. The evidence of a transformed life is a passion for doing good and serving others.
Conclusion:
God's grace saves us, teaches us, strengthens us, and prepares us for Christ's return. Therefore, let us embrace His grace fully. Reject what dishonors God, pursue righteous living, keep your eyes on the blessed hope, and be eager to do good works.
You are not called to struggle alone. The grace that saved you is the grace that will sustain you. Walk confidently, live faithfully, and serve passionately, knowing that God's transforming grace is at work in you every day.
